  • Rear LCA and Torque Arm Install

Over the weekend I installed BMR rear Lower Control Arms and a BMR Torque Arm, both with poly bushings. I cant really see a difference with the torque arm on the street tires and I won't be putting the M/Ts back on until it is time for the track.

The LCAs are a different story. I got them to eliminate wheel hop with the M/Ts and won't be able to test that until the track but I got another suprising benifit.

I have a Spec Stage 3 clutch and it has the notorious "Chater" that can be anoying. The LCAs have cut the chater WAY down. I guess the chater was being passed through the drive train to the rear axel and it would jump against the rubber bushings and stamped LCAs. With the tubular arms and Poly bushings, the axel holds steady and almost no chater.

There is more road noise but that is why I have a nice stereo. :D

For all you running agressive clutches, give this a try, it makes a world of difference.

i would really, really think you'd get MORE vibration/chatter with poly bushings all around, but i can see your point.

have any trouble getting the clamshell back together? torque arm may be my next mod...

No problem at all. With the BMR torque arm, I just removed the old bushing (had to grind off the rivets) and the new one fit like a glove. I got the bolts in and nuts on very easily and then snugged it all down.

As for the chater, I would have thought so too. But I did the torque arm one day with no change in the chater. Then the next day I did the LCAs and the difference was amazing.

I want to get the car Dynoed before I go back to the track. The reason is simple, I want to find the HP before I break the transmission (which could be at any time). Once I have the dyno numbers, I will get to the track.
