  • BMR Subframe safety ?

Just got my BMR subframes in the mail not too long ago. They are the tubular weld on ones. I was looking over the way that they get installed on the car and got a little worried about how safe they are? They appear to get bolted on in the back where the LCAs go and then get welded in the front. My question is, what if that weld in the front ever breaks? Wouldn't that send the car pogoing down the track, similar to what happens if the driveshaft was to break in the front?? Could someone please clear this up for me?

I suppose it's possible, but the reason that driveshafts are a concern is that they have highly stressed flexible joints and, if the front u-joint breaks, the driveshaft is certain to drop down. Solid sfcs wouldn't seem to be much of a risk.

If it really worries you, sent the BMRs back and get Kenny Brown Double Diamonds :D . They're welded in _so_ many places...

that would be a heck of a horrible weld if it broke. but i guess anything is possible. i wouldnt worry about it though, at least i know i dont. if it helps any, i have had mine on for 2 years now and no problems.

if you are worried about welds, have them tig welded. they are stronger than the standard mig welds, and i think will be just fine for street driving w/ some serious auto x thrown in here and there.
