steering wheel shakes????? help please

every once in a while when i'm at highway speeds and i first hit the brakes the steering jerks to the left and right a tiny bit.. it's only does it every once in a while any ideas???

All our cars seem to have warped rotors. I even got my turned once at the dealership but it came back after awhile.

People say that the KVR Cross Drilled Brake Rotors
at http://www.fasttoys.net/9398fbodyframes.html are pretty good. Make sure you click the brakes link on the left.

There really isn't any rotor out there that avoids warping. Don't let anyone talk you into drilled/slotted rotors saying that they perform better, will not warp, or even make your brake pads last longer, because they wont. Unless you are driving in Rally Races over in Europe or some other sort of cross-country/multi-terrain event where you are extrememly heavy on the brakes 90% of the time, you don't need drilled or slotted rotors. They are for looks only.

I had to replace the slotted front rotors on my 96 camaro after only 10,000 miles because of warpage. I went back to the stock rotors and they work just fine.

I would keep you stock rotors until your warranty runs out, just get them to replace the rotors or get them turned when they warp up again.

I bought the KVR front rotor blanks from fasttoys and they are holding up good. The number for fasttoys is 204-955-4896 if you want to call them and ask about the 02, but I think they're the same.

What about the gasses that buildup between the pad and the rotor limiting contact and causing caliper deflection? That's all just imaginary? True, you don't NEED crossdrilled or slotted rotors for the average joe. But if you constantly exceed 100+ MPH, autocross or road race. Crossdrilled and or slotted rotors might give you the edge you need. Numbers don't lie - when comparing alike brake systems one with crossdrilled and/or slotted rotors, they always come out ahead stopping faster - why is that?

Sorry to hear you had a bad experiance with them. It could be you got a bad batch of brakes, or they were installed incorrectly, or you're just a bad driver???

With all the motorsport use my Camaro sees' I still had the stock brakes last 113,000 miles - and that was only having pads put on the front, and turnin' the rotors, rears still have 50% pad life left, going strong at 126,000 miles.

Warped rotors deals more with driver input than the quality of brakes. I can warp a 5,000 dollar brake system if I tried to - does that mean they are bad???

Slow consistant pedal pressure, that gradually builds, Don't stab or jab, you're not boxing.
Also, if you don't season your brakes, don't complain about life and wear. Preventive maintenance!
