Everytime i hit a bump, small or large, there is a large clunk sound from the back right wheel. Is this a shot strut, spring???? Any help would be great. Thanks

Have you done and work on your rear end reciently? When I put my new rear in, I was getting this strange knock when I went over a bump. Not every time but most times. Turned out it was a piece of metal that holds the parking break cable. It would get caught on something then sudenly release. It was a ***** to figure out. Lie down next to the car and have someone bounce the car. Try to determine where it is coming from.

No rear end work done. so thats ruled out, but i will have to wait till tommorrow to get under the car because im at school and its a pain to do anything to my car when its dark. Any other possibilities besides the metal thing?

my sisters tiberon was real bad, like every crack she went over.does it sound kinda like clanking? got a new rear strut and it was gone.hope that helped a little.
EDIT:what you could try is have some shake your car or something to see exactly where its comeing from. my sisters was bad.all we had to do was push up and down on the hatch kinda hard and it did it.

              Check your exhaust pipes.

check your bump stops in the rear. I had one rot off on mine and it caused a very loud crack every time i hit any bump at all. If you pull the wheel and there isnt a rectangular piece of rubber there on the frame, chances are you need one. no autoparts store sells one, you have to get it at the dealer. its like $26 or so bucks a piece. good luck.

I found the best way to locate the problem was to back up onto ramps and get under the car (preferrably while it's not still hot) and shake everything on the suspension. Try to recreate the noise by shaking the car, bouncing it, etc. If you are successful, you can have a friend do it while you search for the problem (dont get underneath the car while it is being shaken BTW, just look and reach).

When I first put mine on it used to hit against the panhard bar or whatever its called. Some "custom" hangers fixed that.
