• Mods what do you think?

Here is my list of handeling mods to do for my V6.
To start with, I have a 85 V6 camaro 5-spd.
The crate shiping weight of the V6 is 330lb (50-70lb lighter than an SBC) and the trans only weighs about 40-50lb, about half weight of an auto)
I want to be able to out handel all most all the imports (FWD's) and new domestics (solid rear axel cars).
I'll start frount to back.
First I want to take some weight out of the frount and move it around.
I want to put the battery in the back of the trunk I was going to cut out the floor pan and put it low so I can still use the trunk aera.
I also want to find a lighter than stock hood.
Add a frount after market sway bar with poly bushings.
And may be lower it with some 1-2'' frount springs drop springs with a little 1/2''-1'' spacer or so, That will have to be last if I do it because of other mods. I want the new stiff spring more than the lowering.
The struts have been dead for a while so I'll change them with some thing new.
I was also going to reinforce the strut towers and buy an eldbrock 3 way strut to fire wall brace.
I want to look into making a fire wall to cross member connector if I can.
I was going to take my plasma cutter to the frount of my car and cut out some weight and make room for inter cooler piping. And when the turbos go in I'll put them close to the fire wall, if I'm going to add 15lb of wight I an going to put it as close to the center of ballance as I can get it.
Bolt in SFC's of corse. Toss in Aluminium LT1 drive shaft.
For the rear I'll put in a after market track or pan hard bar (what ever you would like to call it)and reinforce the mount if needed, controal arms, track bar, torque arm and stuff.
The shocks are dead so they have to go.
Also I was going to lower the gas tank a few inches an old circle track trick (unlike ricers that put a fuel cell in there trunk 3 ft off the dirt and raise there center of gravity), that's one of the reasons why I don't want to lower it 2'' that and duel exhaust.
All around I want to put 17''X 8'' wheels for handeling ( it has 14's now )
For a 3rd gen 17's will increase lateral skid pad G's more than any thing else.
Now for my unique mod:
I was going to weld (custom make) a solid rear end cross brace from the left to right side of the rear (barrowed that one from a nother new car).
I have a Zexal torsen and 3.42 rear now.
I'm also going to get some rear disks breaks from an 89+ camaro.
I want to hit some of the auto cross and other imports events at my next base and show them up.
I have my web site it's all about the engine.
What do you think?
Also does any one know the frount and reat axel weight of my car?

well, sounds like u've researched what u wanna do. also, think about welding all the seams in the car. I know that 4th gen's are either riveted or spot welded together on the floorpan, and just welding it all smoothly together will add chassis rigidity. removing weight from the top of the car is always good. I think VFN Fiberglass has fiberglass components that u might be able to use on ur car. also, consider changing the side windows and rear window to lexan w/ a anti-scratch coating or something, cuz the glass is highest up weight on the car, besides the frame. Don't just take a plasma cutter to ur car unless u know for sure what u r doing. u may be cutting out vital pieces of ur car's chassis and may weaken it to the point that the dropped weight will be outdone by the lack of chassis strength.
