• V8 springs on a v6...

so I have always heard a bad idea since the front end might get jacked up a little bit do to the weight of the v8 compared to the V6.

But then I also heard that the 3.8L and Ls1 weigh nearly the same(steel block vs. aluminum)

So in theory shouldn't ls1 springs work on our cars?

Why would you want to go through the trouble if there's no difference?

I'm going with either the Eibach or BMR 1" lowering springs and the SLP Bilsteins.

Looking for a better spring rate, for cheap.

i ordered st springs off ebay for 120 bucks shipped. they said they were v6/v8 springs. but when you buy them you do have to send them an email with your item number and tell them which car engine blah blah you have. you cant beat the price. there 1 3/4 drop. it is a big drop but im extremely happy. it really made a difference in body roll. ride is pretty good except on really ruff stuff, like old country roads.

1 inch drop imo isnt enough, better looking than stock, but still not enough. my buddy has a 1" drop kit on his 94 and mine looks way btter. now he wants the same kit as me.

yeah it raises the car up a little, honestly though if your springs are shot like mine were it's nice. Now I am running 1LE springs so they are a little stiffer but overall it's no big deal it WILL however ride rougher. But no more scraping :D

I also have the big sway bars and bilstein HD's so it's pretty balanced, I don't have any oversteer problems and the car is quite stable at speed.

Could you still run 17" x 9.5" rims with that drop? It's on my mod list with new shocks/struts.

Most V8 guys go out of their way for V6 springs.

Don't they only want rear v6 springs though?

yeah they should fit. im shooting for 18x9.5 y2ks when i ge tthe money. its deffinately a good place to start, not that hard to do it youself either(i did).

it is definately more stable at speed. its lot more easier adn stable to power slide the car. before if i would pwer slide it, it would fell sketchy and understeer, now its stable and predictable. with the springs, shocks, struts, and the lcas this thing launches liek a monster.

They want a softer spring rate in the rear.

Problem is alot of them are don't realize 98+ the rear springs are the same rate, v6 or v8.

Rear spring rates.

93-97 v6 95.4 lbs/in.
93-97 V8 110 lbs/in.
98-02 v6 114 lbs/in.
98-02 v6 114 lbs/in.

So little G if you want a softer spring in the rear may wanna look into getting a set of of a 93-97 v6.

I know lt1, and possibly 1LE will jack up the front end because they were designed for a heavier motor.

But the Ls1 so I have been told weighs the same as the 3.8L SO it should have no affect on ride height.

I just ordered 4 springs from an '02 Camaro SS and a new 19mm rear swaybar. Next is a good set of shocks.
I already have the 32mm 1LE swaybar up front with the stock shocks and springs, and the car has a bit of a "wandering" problem on the highway. Can't wait for the upgrades to arrive!!! :D
I've read alot of V6Bob's posts and I'm trying to take it into consideration when upgrading the suspension....thanx bro!

Edit: WooHoo...Just got all 4 springs for $50! Local pickup too

Because the V6 is set back a bit, even if the engines weigh the same, the V6 will have a bit less weight on the front wheels.

How much of a height difference will I notice with the V8 springs?
