yeah i would stay away from slotted and drilled rotors, especially because drilled rotors are crack prone.

not only that but for the kind of braking we do, the fact that the rotors are drilled means they have less surface area... thus the brake calipers have to work harder to acheive stock performance. the "ventilation" effect is NOT worth it on a daily driver.

porsche and ferrari competition cars are a different story, but so are the manufacturing standards for their brakes.

Go to PepBoys and get standard rotors. No holes drilled or slots to worry about. I got the plain ol' rotors from PepBoys 2 years ago for my 96 Camaro, and they are holding up great! $28 each is an awesome price too. :D

I use slotted rotors, but I also use my car for auto-x. Having fresh contact areas is kind of critical when you are having to do 35->0, 45->0, and 55-> repeatedly and your brake pads and rotors are hot enough to vaporize water.

Reminds me, I need to get new brake pads all around and new rear rotors too...

so if i atuocross it would be useful to get slotted rotors

I just installed a set of crossdrilled and slotted SP Rotors with Hawk pads. Aside from a little noise during break-in, I think these are a fantastic upgrade from stock. The machining is excellent and there aren't a million holes in like some other brands. Stopping power is much improved and they look really cool.

Cross Drilled rotors will only crack if you are racing your car and slamming on the brakes from light to light. For normal every day driving they will be fine, just break them in properly. If you are VERY hard on brakes, go with the slotted rotors..
I have the KVR cross drilled rotors and KVR Carbon Fiber pads, I can stop just fine.

Proving a point. People on this board give advice and have no idea what they are talking about.

Baer Eradispeeds are nice but they are quite expensive. If you have the money they would be good ones to get.

If your worried about cracking go for the slotted and dimpled rotors. Aftermarket does make a big improvement.
