  • Air Ride Technologies:

It's about time to change my shocks/springs, and came accross air ride technologies air suspension. It's basically air bag suspension (low rider style) that rivals coil overs. You can change ride stiffness, height, and a few other things on the go from inside the car with a button.

(from article):The pros saw a big improvement, and for us, a car that limited the driver was turned into a car that was limited by its driver. With that drive, and our other jaunts in 'bagged vehicles, Air Ride had proved its point, at least to this author, that air suspension can indeed be a high-performance setup. In fact, we're already cooking up a story to further explore the performance capabilities of air suspension. In the meantime, we'll go in for some professional instruction in the interests of staying on track in this endeavor.

Comments? The whole setup is about $1600 I believe.

There was a big show about this on Two Guys Garage - look it up on the net. They seemed to like it, but for $1600 I can do really well with adjustable coilovers and not have to worry about pneumatic failure.

I saw the ep of two guys garage as well. Air Ride had a big event where they let people with air ride come and show off their cars. They also let people ride around the track in a camaro. Then they equiped the camaro with a full air ride suspension and let the people ride around the track again. Everyone seemed to like it. 1600 is alot though.

It may be a lot, but I don't want something too stiff, or too soft, and I want to be able to control ride height.. so it's either this or full coil overs.. and coil overs are even more.

what? All I have to do is stop, turn the wheel lock to lock and reach under and adjust the stiffness... haha

he's talkin about adjustable shocks ;) the air shocks sound interesting, but I dunno, I dont really see you adjusting the ride height all the time, for everytime you do you change the geometry of the suspension, I just dont think this is a good thing for hot rodding the car.
