Re: Tires? Toyo Proxes 4, or Bfg G-Force?

Kinda funny here but I can't say much about Korean or Japanese tires being crap anymore, they used to be and we all know that, but they are seriously taking a twist in the market lately, and these companies are making some NICE tires.

Personally I have a hard time seeing myself with Kumho's or Yokohama's or any of the others out there..

But I have been looking and digging and reading and I'm at a stop between the Toyo Prox 4 the BFG gForce Sport, and the Goodyear Ultra HP Plus.

I don't get that point of view... has Yokohama been a "crap" tire manufacturer in the last 20 years? Goodyear has a long and current history of being a CRAP tire manufacturer... they only make one or two good performance tires with the rest being below par of the competing companies, though their racing tire series are pretty good. And their "All-season" tires are not adequate in any driving condition on any performance vehicle (Dunlop D60 A6 were a much better alternative).

I'd consider Yokohama, Kumho, Hankook, Falken, and Toyo/Nitto for performance street tires/DOT-R tires (over Goodyear or BFGoodrich) because they are proven tires (autocross and track/racing) for a good price. Never been impressed with Goodyear's lineup (but I haven't tried the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 which is a great performance tire by all accounts), though I do like the BFGoodrich tire selection (a little pricey though).

Not considering Yokohama, Kumho, Hankook, Falken, or Toyo/Nitto tires means you are missing out on some of the best performance tires ever made...

No I think I am going to get the Proxes 4's personally I can get a sweet deal on them for like $82 a piece. It's not that I think they make bad tires, just kinda an old fashioned mind set, about buying American products. Hell if Cooper still made a nice good tire for my car I would buy it, they are still made in the US..

As far as the Eagle F1 GS-D3s a friend of mine had a set of those on his '98 WS6, man those were great tires in comparrison to the Falken Ziexs he replaced them with, but talk about a price ticket...

Well I placed the order for the Proxes 4's, if I'm not happy with them I'll just return them and get something else, I have 30 days to let Toyo know if I'm not happy so win/win either way, give a new company a shot, and I havn't heard anything bad about them.

Too bad slicks arn't legal, I would just assume get a set of Hoosiers or M/Ts

I think the nittos are cheaper than the g-forces as well. I have evidence that your yokohamas are pure opinion as well. check this out. My tires got the yoko's beat in every category except ride comfort and noise. For me, those 2 categories dont even go into consideration when choosing tires. All i can say is, the gforces have better handling, dry and wet grip, better tread rating, arnt japanese, and a higher speed rating(haha if you ever go 186mph).
Here is tireracks comparison on the two. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...=0&sortValue=1
don't be pig headed man... I am your typical camaro man. Ya know flowmaster, Korn, lightin the tires everywhere... Japanese products are pretty damn good products.. I Actually miss my civic when I go up to the gas pump...haha... hey man you can go 240 or so if you have the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires... the veyron wears them

Well my Proxes 4s came in today, tonight I'll mount them up and pull it straight on the road and give her a good ole kick and see if they break loose. 245/50/16s. Let you guys know how I feel on them, being it doesn't look like anyone has used them yet....

Re: Tires? Toyo Proxes 4, or Bfg G-Force?

Okay! These tires rock on dry pavement!

I got them put on today, balanced them quick, bolted em on, and took off from a dead stop out of the parking lot, I didn't so much as get a squeek out of the tires! 245/50/16s on a 95 3.4L CAI, Exhaust only upgrades but on the old tires man those broke loose all the time. But with that in mind I decided to shoot around a corner and give it a really tight turn and stomp her hard, might have slid a tiny bit, but a 90 degree turn in 1 lane city street at 30mph entering and exiting without drifting a lane at almost 50, no squeek or feeling of a sidewall buckle, felt under total control the whole time. So one last test, took her down the highway, kicked her down to about 110-115ish hard to tell, went perfectly straight and cut a corner across all 3 lanes like a dream. Mind you all this is also a completely factory suspension, minus a cheap version upgrade to Moog tie rods, lol big deal!

Anyways can't wait for it to rain to give them another shot here. But for now more than pleased! On top of the performance I already love about them, they don't clunk clunk sound over bumps, and they are a fairly quiet riding tire all around. Very pleased, if for some reason I find myself not wanting them I have 30 days, and I'll swap them for a set of BFG KDWs..

Oh sweet someone else, ya today it was a fairly cold day and it rained decent, I gave her a good stompin at a stop light, and it spun up to about 30 I started to let off and they gripped nice and firm instantly, and talk about a nice straight launch now my freshly and finally overdue rear diff service might have helped that, but flying down the highway tonight at 90 hitting rainy spots, felt almost in better control of the car in an inch of water.. Great tire, all too happy!

Ohh and while I'm at it, friend manages the shop so I got a discount on them I paid a whoppin $87 a piece for them, just had to wait a week to get them shipping straight from Toyo.
