shocks for autocross

what shocks would be best, mine are shot right now, and i need new ones, i plan on doing streetcross once i fix a few more things on my car, i'd like to get away with only spending 300-350 or cheaper. Would bliistens be my best bet. also I plan on putting them in myself, so im not sure if that has anything to do with what i should get. any help would be great.

If you are planning to do SoloII hardcore then you are going to want all around adjustable shocks. This will give you the ability to tune your cars handling to your specific driving style.

I'm not sure anymore, but last time I looked, a good set of adjustable shocks could easily run you $500 or more.

If you go to tirerack.com, they have a pretty good selection across the spectrum. For autocrossing, the first step would be something like the KYB AGX adjustables. They are a world of difference, but only a marginal adjustability. They will run you about 300-400 depending on where you purchase them.

On the other hand...

If you really want a good set of shocks, look at the Koni's. They are about the best you can find for a Camaro without going with an air system. They are fully adjustable, but will run you about a grand. :(

A cheaper option for Koni'swould be to find a racer who is getting rid of theirs, and buy a rebuild kit.

What class are you going to run in? You need to decide on that before shocks, then pick the best you can for the class. Autocross classes are very strict.

Koni sport SA's will be best overall for a streetable autocross camaro... only cost around $760 for all four, so they are not really that expensive compared to the upper level dampers. You can run any damper that is stock fitment in any autocross class...meaning you can run Koni SA or DA's in stock class. You can't run remote reseviour dampers (like ohlins or penske's) or electronically controlled ride dampers though...unless you are in the top end classes. You really need to choose spring rates before dampers though...with stock springs KYB AGX will work good. Up the spring rates and Koni's become a lot more important to have.

I was looking for something of the same sort, but I don't think I'm going to race this car, maybe my other one sooner or later. But personally I was looking at the Bilstens with a Eibach Pro kit? Good mix?

I drive calm most the time, but when I get on it, I GET ON IT! Mostly on the highways, but 40-50mph hard corners are fun on back roads, and I want one that will hold nice a strong for me.

I think a good set of inexpensive Bilstein HDs would work well, and a Prokit might be ok if you don't mind lowering the car but I hear they're a little stiff for the Bilsteins. I run stock springs and HDs and love the setup. I've considered lowering it with springs but everytime I pull up to a highcurb gas station that thought leaves my mind.

Cool thanks, I think I'll try the new Bilsteins on it with the stock springs and see what I feel, my rear shocks are getting a little bad anyways. If it's not stiff enough, I'll give the pro-kit a shot or find another set from someone else maybe RKSport.. I just don't want to drop it 2" like the Sport Kit....
