  • Back passenger side bottoming out...

I have a 98 3.8L camaro with eibach prokit springs and kyb agx shocks. I have the stock wheels and tire size on there, and recently i've noticed that whenever i have weight in the back (people sitting in the backseat, or bringing stuff back from school), their is a terrible rubbing sound when i first get going from a stop coming from the rear passenger side.

Has anyone else had this problem with their lowered camaro? It seems like it just started recently, and i've had the new springs and shocks in since august of last year.

I cant find any marks on the tire where it would be rubbing, so I can't even say for sure that thats what it is, but i also cant get under my car cause im not gonna be home from school until may. Anyone input would be great, cause i'd love to go look under there and find out for myself but its just not possible right now.

My passenger side axle bottoms out and keeps hitting the exhaust when I go over bumps. I was told by the guys at the shop to put a stiffer spring in there. That might be a solution for you too.

Well i already have the eibach prokit springs, which are pretty stiff, and my kyb agx shocks are set pretty stiff, 4 in the front and 6 in the back...

I should add also that sometimes over bumps at low speeds with weight in the back it does make a thump sound like it could be the bumpstops, and my exhaust does shake around quite a bit. What could i do to make my exhaust move less? More hangers or something?

Overall tho when starting from a dead stop, with weight in the back, it is more of a rubbing noise than a thud sound...

air shocks are cheap and should raise and stiffen it up some

did you do this yourself? check and make sure the shocks are tight, the bushings could be rubbing somewhere. on one side I put the bushing and washer backwards... made all kinds of sounds... could it be you panhard bar? what exhaust do you have? who did it.. the guy at midas told me he welded it pretty good but come back if it rattles and he would weld it some more. shouldn't move at all, mine doesn't move at all.

I've done everything myself, so i'll have to check the bushings and everything. The exhaust is flowmaster, its put together good, it just moves some in the back cause of the stock "rubber" hangers...

well i ended up going home this weekend and found the problem... When i cut off the resonator on my flowmaster and replaced it with a straighpipe, i didnt cut it short enough and ended up adding about an inch to the I pipe length. Anyways, this made the overaxle pipe hit the axle whenever i would hit bumbs... Once i get my highflow cat, i'll just take an extra inch of piping off and that should solve the problem.
