  • I got new tires!!!

well i just bought new rims and tires for my 99 'maro, 06 z06s wrapped in Nexem N3000 265/35ZR18, so far they are a pretty nice tire, but i haven't really had a chance to test them out fully. I'll keep you posted, but i do have a few questions for you guys.

first does anyone have any expeirence with these tires?

second do 265/35ZR18 typically rub on on 99 camaros with the factory appearance package? because my do by just like a half mm and only on one side, (just when i cut the wheel all the way.

If my front end is out of line could getting an alinement fix the problem?

I have the N3000's, but I've only had them for a week. It hasn't rained yet to see how the tires grip in the rain, but I like them. I went from 215 tire to a 255, so I noticed some grip changes there. I can't really comment on your other questions, but so far, I like my tires.... :D

An alignment is a very good idea after changing rims and tires.

Think he's referring to how wide tires have a greater effect on "wandering" or pulling left or right over irregular pavement.

This is an effect of using wider tires, but can also be caused by your alignment being off.

Here is a little explanation of "bump steer" from RK Sport.

I figured he meant "bump" and not "bumb", but I subconsciously fixed it when i typed it, and i typed it correctly...

Anyway, I went from 215's to 255's, and I noticed a huge diff in my steering. I figured it was normal, since there's more area that's going over the bump or whatever it is... if that makes sense.

                    Re: I got new tires!!!

If someone added suspension parts that "result in undesired, dynamic changes... can cause a total loss of control, minimally, it is unsettling, unsafe and undesirable" then I'd say you picked the wrong f***ing parts.

Suspension/tire upgrades are supposed to make your car handle better, not worse or unpredictably. My suspension has been almost completely overhauled and the car handles bumps great, much better than the stock suspension which tended to let the car get unsettled over bumps.

I was talking about wide tires tendancy to pull in one direction or another over lateral grooves or severe irregular camber changes in the road surface. This can be made worse by out of align toe. Take a close look at your old tires, notice any uneven wear, feathering or cupping between the tread blocks? If so, you need an alignment. If your alignment is fine then maybe you're running too high or low air pressure in the tires, or your stock suspension is worn out.
