  • How to raise my car???

Hey guys I need to raise the fron of my car a few inches to get clearance for my custom exhaust from my turbo. What do you guys recommend and should I do it or should I get it done? Thanks for any help

maybe try some z28 springs up front? Those should raise it some because the 3.8 is a lighter engine than the 5.7 so in theory it will sit higher (other members here have stated the same so im going off their ideas and attempts)

1LE springs will lift the car ~1/4" over stock Z28 springs i believe... but I can't help you beyond that

BMR has some shock spacers for their coil-overs that will raise the car some. Reducing sprung weight will raise the car a bit, but we're talking weight reduction in the hundreds of lbs. to raise the car a few inches.

i installed z28 springs up front, and air shocks to raise the rear. Id say my car rides about 2" higher then stock, and the ride is great! However make sure you get a frontend allinment after the front springs.

ok, i understand the needing it to be higher for custom exhaust, but i dont get why you would want to have your car ride higher than stock

I did it because GM put too weak of springs on our cars. Going up and down hills and around turns i could feel the suspension was too weak. Plus i go on down to our farm every weekend, i take a long an average size ice chest. With the weight of the ice, and maybe a 12 pack of sodas, snacks, extra cloths, ect the car would be sqwating badly. My moms 2003 honda civic has very strong suspension, and will still hold more weight then my car with out dropping. I love my chevrolets, but i dont think ill every buy another one. Every thing on our suburban, my car, and our trucks is just stamped together, and leaking oil. They are building them fast and cheap.

If I would raise anything, I think I would raise the rear end for a drag look.

                          Curb Weight - Automatic (lb.) (V6) 3525 (V8) 3613
                          Curb Weight - Manual (lb.)............3479........3591

so about 100 lbs difference, thats less than the weight of a passenger, i doubt the springs are EXTREMELY different
