  • Messed Up Axle

took a left turn a little too fast in 1st gear and fish tailed. The right rear spun around and slammed into the curb pretty hard. later i took it to a shop and they told me that the axle might be bent. i didn't have a lot of time so they told me to use the jack and the spare and put the spare on instead of the tire just to make sure that it just wasn't the tire that was messed up. i did that and the spare was wobbling just as much as the original tire. so what exactly does this mean??? am i gonna need a completely new axle? what should i replace?

***btw. . .i don't have a license so i was kinda driving illegaly. thats why i didn't have very much time with the mechanic. i needed to be at the house before my parents.***

If the spare is wobbling seems like the axle is bent , but you could have also done damage to the brake assembly might have to change that aswell

      Re: Messed Up Axle

You're going to need to get it looked at. Possibilities of damage are:
Rear axle (anywhere from axle shafts to tubes to whole rear end)
      LCA's
      Panhard Rod
      Wheels

          Re: Messed Up Axle

Hey something similar happened to me before a couple years ago. I was doing 60 in a 30 taking a curve on a wet road. I ended up spinning out, hitting the curb and my whole car was on top of the sidewalk. My tire was messed up and my rim was broken so I drove around for a week with my spare on until someone told me my tire was wobbling. The only thing that was messed up was the axle. I ended up paying about $400.00 for a shop to fix it. It's actually easy to change out an axle. If I would've known back then I would've changed it out myself. You probably just messed up the axle.

my friends vortech silverado had a wobbling tire. It would make loud banging noises. Ended up being the rear end was busted from doing burnouts.
