  • Lowering the car... but just the front...

    Question for the suspension boys....

I'm planning on dropping the front of the car by about 1.25" using the Eibach Pro Kit. However, I am not lowering the rear. The reason is that I'm running 17" x 11" with 315/35ZR17 tires on the rear, and they will not clear the fenders.

Is there anything wrong with lowering the front and not the rear? Keep in mind I am also doing sway bars and shocks to keep up with it.

you might run into getting water in your back seat from the hatch area, especially in heavy rain where it cant drain out fast enough. (happened to me when i did my front springs one day and the rears the next.)

you also feel like youre falling forward a little.

as far as how itll handle...i have no idea, sorry.:(

Dont do it. I am running the eiback sportline kit only in the front right now, with 17's in the front and 18's iin the back because my wheels also will not clear. In fact, this weekend Im having my buddy that owns a shop plasma cut, and remold my wheel well so my tires wont rub. I will also be doing swaybars, but I believe the CG of the car is too far foward now. Every little bump on the road shows signs of severe oversteer, and my car feels like the backend is jealous of not being in front. Perhaps the swaybars may help, I wont know because Im putting the rear springs back in along with the swaybars!
Hope this helps you a bit,

          1. I love oversteer. :)
          2. Sportline kit? Well Jesus, no wonder. The Sportline kit is pretty well the lowest of the low for ground clearance, the Pro Kit is just a mild drop, and it's all I can justify.
          3. It might look like my shocks have failed... or it might look like I've got a beefy ***-end jacked up like an old school muscle car. :D

I always get compliments for my car, people rolling down their windows saying "I LOVE YOUR CAR!" Its awesome, thats why I raked it even more with the 17's in the front and 18's in the rear. I definately do not recommend using only the front pair of springs, Im scard to go on the freeway, and will not do it in the rain, I almost spun out! The rear end feels like the devils hand is lifting all but 5lbs of it off the ground.
