What's up board i am new to the site. a friend told me about it so thought i should check it it. However i have a question that i need to be answer with so expertise.

i just recently bought a 98 camaro v6 3.8 (automatic). i talked to few people that have camaro's about the problem doing a good burnout with the 98 3.8 and they were pretty much saying that it can NOT be done (due the traction control or ABS system). I know that i have the traction control button and all that. but i turned it off and i put the gas to the floor and hit the brakes and i got nothing but the engine reving up. my question is what do i need to do to do a GOOD burnout??? do i need to change the rear end, gears, and differential or what............. thanks for your help guys!!!!

you just barely hold the brakes at all, some people like to cut the wheel, but i dont find it nessicary, are you sure you have tcs, and not just sgs, if you put it into sgs (the sgs button illuminated) then there is no way in hell you are going to burn anything but a belt because sgs = second gear start, just play around with it, you will find your sweet spot, i found mine http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...20-06_1616.jpg but you barely need any brakes, just barely have your foot on them, or else you are just stalling. good luck!

Yeah and if you find yourself stalling as stated above, sometimes you can back off the brakes and then get back on them a little and they'll break loose.

the brake system makes it harder on the 98 compared to the earlier years, but i can do it in my 98 3.8L with no problem.

btw the car needs to be tuned up and the exhaust is straight (no mufflers) meaing no back pressure would those also be some contributing factors of not being able to burn out.

a muffler or not, it still shouldn't matter. aftermarket exhaust will help the air out while an intake will help to get it in, but i don't think it would keep you from doing a burnout. my flowmaster with stock size exhaust isn't much and i burnout with ease. its just the brakes make it a little harder to hold on to. give it some gas... let off the clutch and turn your wheel then push on the break, just don't ease off the gas too much.

today i drove my car around the neighbhood and tried a few things that you guys mentioned. the advise paid off i was able not only get it to burnout but with two wheels and the rear end is stock from what i know i just bought the car about a month ago byw its not my daily driver so i dont know the car very well yet.
