i can tell my front rotors are warped and all four are glazed, so i was either going to turn them, or get some drilled/slotted new ones. I've heard they have better endurance and all, but i've also heard they don't stop any faster, and really all they do is wear the pads down faster because it's grinding against an uneven surface. Are they worth it? i'm sure turning them would be about $10 a piece, and new ones would be closer to $140 total, that's a $100 difference, but is it worth it?

well, i wasn't sure so i thought general would work...
So unless i ride my brake constantly, it's really going to make no difference except in appearance. Well, i have the stock z28 alloys on my 96, so i would be able to see the rotors a whole lot anyway, so i might just stick to what's cheaper and just get mine turned, maybe later on i'll get some drilled/slotted.

i would consider it an expensive downgrade

Stock rotors are thinner than most aftermarket rotors so they have a tendancy to warp quicker and most auto store replacements are made in china and thinner than the stock rotor. Stock size aftermarket rotors like the powerslots will help with brake fade as said earlier, but they are also thicker so they won't warp like a stock rotor. If you use the recommended Hawk brake pads, your braking performance will increase. Thunder racing sells a kit with 4 rotors, pads, brake fluid, and stainless steel flex lines. Thats what I have on my car and I noticed better braking performance in dry and wet with no fade. I've had them on the car for almost 2 years and still no warping. The problem with slotted and drilled rotors cracking is generally because a company takes a rotor then drills or slots it. The rotor should be designed with drilling or slotting in mind not just an after thought to charge more money. Which is what a lot of random companys are doing.
