so i'm lookin to get a rear from a guy off another board. this is the info he sent me about it...

LCAs, 3.42 (Strange Pro Street) gears, LSD, TA girdle. Main bearing cap stud kit, all new bearings in ENTIRE rear end at the time of gear install (using the Deluxe gear install kit). With disc brakes, all brake hardware is there too.

he wants $250...is that a good deal? will i be able to make the conversion and get this into my 94 Camaro without problems (i have rear drum brakes now btw)? what would i need to do the swap?

    Re: rear end

What year is the rear from? If it's between 93-97, it will be a direct fit with no modifications what-so-ever. You will need to replace the emergency brake cables only. The rest is a bolt-on.

$250 sounds like an awesome deal, providing the work was done by an experienced person.

      Re: rear end

Thats a hell of a deal! My rearend cost me $250 (+ shipping) and all it had was a Jeg's diff cover.

My rearend came out of a 2000 T/A and it was a direct swap into my 97. :) It was a very easy swap too. If you are planning on doing them in the future, I recommend swaping out your driveshaft and rear shocks while you are at it.

btw...just found out the rear end is from a 96 Formula so install should be pretty straight-forward right?

Yep. All you'll need is the E-Brake cables and nothing else...unless you want to replace your shocks and various bushings.

so nothing has to be done to the master cylinder right?

That is correct. I thought the same thing when I installed my posi rear, so I went out and bought a master cylinder that came from an all-disk camaro. After doing a bit of research (before I installed it) I found that it wasn't necessary.

so how difficult is the actual instal itself? could i do it myself with some help and a lift? and what else could i install while i'm at the rear end that would be helpful?

I did it myself in about 6 hours. I used a Hydraulic Jack to lift the replacement rear into place, then bolted everything up. I did the brake lines and e-brake cables last because they were the easiest. Also, it's a good idea to change the differential fluid if the rear isn't installed yet...unless it's new fluid to begin with.

                        Re: rear end

I bought a TA take off with ta girdle and 3.73's. When I swapped that in the hardest part was just lifting the rear end into place. It's a heavy sum*****. Other than that everything else was a piece of cake, bolts right back up. If you have to take apart your brake lines, I had to, just make sure you bleed them before putting the lines back together.

so i'll definitely need to get those e-brake cables from this guy as well right? and i think i'm gonna go ahead and install an anti-sway bar, shocks, and maybe even lowering springs (may have those professionally installed though). i also plan on upgrading the brakes a little bit with drilled and slotted rotors and new ceramic pads. some people have suggested a new driveshaft as well. does that sound like a good plan? i'm assuming that since the rear end is being sold with LCAs i won't need relocation brackets or anything will i?

also, what kind of upgrade in performance can i expect from this swap and upgrade?

you dont need to get the rear springs installed professionally considering you will have them off anyways, but fronts i wouldnt even touch
