Re: do i need low profile tires...
thanks T-mill. from that, i realized that there won't be that big of a difference. the only thing i'm worried about is if a regular sized tire would rub when i turn or not. i'll ask the guys at the place where im getting them put on

Re: do i need low profile tires...
a lot of V8's came with 17's so no it will not rub. normal 17" tire size is 275/30/17 I think. but if your using a rim thats less than 8.5" wide I don't think you can use a 275. might have to go with a 255 instead.95 Firebird<br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250</a> <br /> <a href=\"http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/\" target=\"_blank\">http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/</a> <br /><br />me on a good day------> <a href=\"http://communicatio.webblogg.se/images/wet_cat_113159625.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">linky</a>

Re: do i need low profile tires...
Sorry, for some reason, half of my previous post disappeared. Anyway, here's what the other half was supposed to say:
Stock steel w/ hubcap tire size = 215/60/16
Stock aluminum tire size = 235/55/16
Although, some people have varying sizes in between(225?), but these two sizes should cover the majority of stock tire sizes.

Re: do i need low profile tires...
I called and they said the ones they were putting on were 215/40/17.......
I looked at that on the tire size calculator and there was a huge ****ing gap between the fender and the tire so I called them and told them I have no plans on lowering my car.... so then the guy recommended 245/45/17......
so i told him to switch them to that size instead.
okay or not okay??
Looks exact same size as my stock on the tire calculator so there wont be a huge gigantic gap.
I assume they know what they are talking about... but you know what happens when you assumeLast edited by s4983; 07-22-2006, 09:57 AM.

Re: do i need low profile tires...
you would probably run into traction problems with tiny tires like 215s.
and even if you didnt, they would look wrong.
245 is a good width for 17s.
i have 275s, i love the wide look.
imo i wouldnt get anything smaller than 235.<a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2265676\" target=\"_blank\">95 bright red camaro 3.4l</a>
