im trying to get this car done up for as little money as possible but still use good products and not do a shotty job. haha now that i say that i dont think its gonna work out that way. lol.

but neway, if i choose to cut my springs to lower the ride height of the car, is that going to hurt the car, or will i get the same effect of buying springs? my main concern is that the stock springs wont be stiff enough to support the car's body roll and the car will rub the tires in the corners. will this happen or will the springs naturally tighten with the shorter spring?

how will the ride be? (roughness during driving) thanks for the help in advance

DO NOT CUT SPRINGS EVER! Lowering a car bring on a whole new mess of issues in control and alignment of your car. A drop kit properly done for even an inch will cost your $1000 or so once you are done doing it properly. Cutting the springs doesn't do you any good at all, it drops you lower yes, but your spring rate is still the same. Infact there was an article a few months ago from a guy who has a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, ripping on people who cut springs, and do drop kits half rate.

I agree that cutting springs is not a good idea. But, when you cut any "active" (non overlapping part) of a coil spring, the spring rate increases.
