Hi, i have an 86 that im restoring, org came with front disc and rear drum. I want to do an all disc conversion for it.. ive been doing a lot of research but still some things i cant find out. ill start with the front first.
My biggest problem with the fronts are that the mounting brackets (spindles) that the calipers bolt up to, do not fit (1993 LT1, Z28's calipers). The rotors in the front are connected to the hub too, where when i see aftermarket rotors its just the rotor it doesnt have the the wheel studs built into it like oem does, totally different. So i think it is possible for me to modify the mounting brackets, but is there an easier way, like ive heard the v8 camaros are different and bolt right up the the 4th gen brakes, also what about the rotors for the fronts too?
The rears- i need to build up my whole rear end to hold around 400hp, the stock rear end came without positrack, and with 3.42 gears, i was thinking of getting perf gears, 3.83 and moser axles and posi track, untill the locking bolt that holds the main pinon in the diff broke in half (other half still holding pinion in)! and theres not much i can do to get it out i tried an easy out but its at an angle so i cant get at it straight on,tap and die wont work until after i get it out. soimn thinking of now just getting the 93 LT1 Z28 rear end with positrac and has the disk brake setup already. BUT its a little bit longer than the 3rd gen as most of you should know. will it still match up with my car? all the suspension components,( ill prob have to get adjustable suspension parts for the rear now?) and the shocks and springs will they still line up the same?
Any help i would seriously appreciate. Thanks,
Dan
