I have a 93 V6 Firebird and I'll soon be replacing my shocks. While I was at it, I was thinking of replacing the springs as well. Since I dont want to lower the car any, I'd like to keep factory springs in it. A friend of mine has a set of springs off of his WS6 T/A that hes willing to give me....would these be ok to use on my ride? Not sure if it matters, but I'm replacing the stock shocks with Bilsteins.

You really cannot replace v6 springs with v8 springs because they are made for a slightly heaver car. so they will raise you car. The best thing to go with IMO would be eibach Pro kit it will lower your car about 1 inch. I know you said you didnt want to lower it, but this is very slight and will make a difference in handling and looks; especially when coupled with your new shocks.

If I went with the Eibach springs and it lowers it no more than an inch....would I have to replace my nonadjustable BMR panhard bar as well as have to buy relocation brackets for my LCA's? Or is just an inch mild enough not to warrant the extra purchases.

I didnt have to buy an adjustable pan hardbar, hell I have the stock one. About the relocation brackets, no you dont have to buy them for these springs, it really dosent change the ride heighth enough to warrent getting them. But if you want even better traction than before you could get them.

If you don't want to lower your car just keep the springs you have. Unless theres something wrong with them.....

Theres always that, but why not just lower it a little. It won't cause any problems and it will make it look / handle better.

I guess that I could live with just an inch...Im kinda scared of getting any lower than that and dragging something or bottoming out on a dime...lol. Ive checked into the BMR springs and the Eibachs because Ive read that they will drop it an inch...anyone have suggestions?

                Re: Spring Choices

I went with the Eibach Prokit so thats what I'm going to reccomend to you. As for bottoming out and stuff, I never have. Getting lower springs makes the spring rate stiffer so your car handles better. Which means since your car is stiffer your car won't move so much on lets say speed bumbs (like the ones in neiborhoods). I scrape less with the aftermarket springs than stock.

                  i have the prokit. (95 3.4l)

i love the look, love the handling.

i scrape the crap out of my air dam, but i did that before i lowered it too. the streets are horrible around here.

anyway, one thing that did happen is my traction went to hell. i can spin on a downshift from 3rd to 2nd. and forget trying to accelerate while turning in the rain.

since the winter months are coming ive got a set of lca relocation brackets scheduled to be delivered wednesday.

Lower controle arms will help with that, as well as the relocation brackets for them. Also you should not really be able to spin the tires from a 3 to 2nd down shift unless you are shifting down at like 5k rpm's. I did not have any of these problems when i got my springs done. I did how ever have wheel hop, but i only noticed that when I went got my zo6 rims because they are so much wider and have lots more traction. LCAs fixed it all.

Yeah Ive read in several posts that the relocation mounts for the LCAs were a good idea. I guess I'll be buying those too. lol So far Ive got the BMR shocktower brace, LCAs, panhard, and ordered my new Bilsteins this past Saturday. I suppose I'll buy the relocation mounts and the Eibachs as a Christmas present to myself. lol

Nice bro, on the way to awesome handling, all you really need now is a set of good sway bars.

without LCAs using the prokit, your traction is worse than stock?
i thought lowering was supposed to improve traction. does the prokit really mess with the geometry that mucH?

Maybe they/he did a really bad job of alligning it. I wouldnt' think that lowering the car would have as much to do with straight line traction as lateral grip... are you sure your tires aren't just crap?

lowering messes with your lca angle. which in turn messes with your instant center. which all goes hand in hand with straight line traction.

                              i have 275/40/17 kumho excsta asx's.

                              this is a good read:
