  • So..why can this not be used for our cars?

    http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=70005

...These strut tower braces for the 1993-2002 Camaro and Firebird are designed to fit V8 cars...
So.....does that mean they COULD or do work for V6 F-bodies or is there something fundamentally that different between V8 & V6 strut towers?

    Thanks

I know some don't fit because of the alternator or something like that.

I don't remember which exact ones do what but I know v6 ones sit back a little more then v8 ones, I think its because v6 alternators are further back then the v8 ones.

^^^ and from what i've seen, the 3.4 sits higher than the elle.t. juan (prabably due to the 60* thing) would have to look again @ the 3800 cars though

Yeah, it's the alternator, positioned between the towers. The V6 bar slopes backward to clear it. The 93-97 SS also uses the backward sloping bar.

The V8 brace goes straight across:

You are correct. But they do not fit the V6 cuz the alternator is in the way but the LS1 V8 alternator does not sit up top, it is on the bottom so no need for clearance.
