  • Tire Combo Help!

    Hey guys,

well my current tires are completely bald. Its going to start raining here in california. so im seriously out looking for some good cheap tires.

Im currently sporting some 275's Sumitomo HTR+ all around on my black z06 motorosports. Love the tires, look great and ride is nice. They look mean, get compliments all the time but I however hate steering with the 275's up front. A little of a pain so i decided to downgrade the fronts up upgrade the rears a little. I decided on 255's up front and 285's in the rear. i was browsing through ebay and found these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/255-4...QQcmdZViewItem (2) 255/40/17 for the front and http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/P-285...QQcmdZViewItem (2) 285/40/17 GRAND TURBO ZR Tires.

Havent heard of this brand but they look pretty good. the fronts are $125 + $44 for shipping which = ~ $170
    and the rears are $150 + $44 for shipping = ~ $200

so ~ $370 for a 255 Front/285 REAR combo. what are your guys' input.. on the combo... the price... the tire. Any help is greaty appreciated.

It's a heck of a price for an entire set of wheels. I would say do it to it.

The only concern I see after putting them on is your traction in the rain. Their treads are completely different and will handle differently in wet conditions. Look for the rear tires to be a little more loose handling then the front, so no hard turns while accelerating when it's wet with this setup.

Good deal, great tires all around = BUY IT

you dont have power steering? i tried turning my 275's with the car off and key to "on" position. it was almost impossible and i felt like i was going to break the steering column. 255's up front ?!

Your tires are the only thing that connect you to the road. Its the most important mod you'll ever do as it affects your acceleration, braking, and handling. If you've never heard of this tire company i'd be weary of that... tires aren't something i'd "cheap" out on.

I wouldn't worry to much about that tread in the rain. The rears have huge water channels, and the tread has a semi-diagonal pattern.. so it should be ok in the wet. Besides, Gilbert drives like a granny anyway ;)
