Re: write up on K-member install

I haven't really seen a write up on installing a k member, I have seen pics of installed ones and people talking about the fun times they had trying to put them in.

          about 7 hours....

          1. dont try short cuts it will only take longer!!! if you have the motor in then umm good luck lol

6 bolts hold it to the frame of the car (3 each side)

4 bolts hold the lower Arms on (2 per side)

the easy way is to drop out the front spring/shock, undo swayl bar.... leave stearing rack unbolted from K

this lets the front ARM move free so you can line it up when putting the new one in

you you basically have to take apart the front suspension to to do it...... i save 30# buy moving to it and it is MUCH smaller give to 2 inch more ground cleanance for my DP to run under there :)

yea i figured it would be more clearance for the DP, well I have to wait for the transmission anways, so i might as well.

Re: write up on K-member install

I tried to install my PA K-member today and the bolt holes on the passenger side do not match up with the bolt holes in the engine mount pad. Anybody have any experience with this problem?

Did you utilize the factory motor mounts and pad?

Anybody have pictures showing the proper bolt placement on the K-member?

Re: write up on K-member install

Yes factory mounts are used , when installing it don't tighten any of the bolts down all the way until all bolts are in , its funny I bought Uoluses PA K member and it bolted up fine thats from way back then, so there new ones should bolt up even better, they had some issues with them when they first came out, but mine fitted fine, took 4 hours to do the tub K and A arms. But I had it at my Dads GM work place and some mechanics doing just about all the work. I'm going to be taking off my Y pipe and prefitting my oval turbo Y pipe to the front either tonight or tomorrow night so I can take pics of what you want just let me know.
