  • Car Shake at high speeds?

My car shakes around 100mph ever since i put the new exhaust on. Does anyone elses shake at any certain speed or shake at all?

Re: Car Shake at high speeds?

My car does vibrate quite a bit once I get up to 75ish. It could be due to my headerback exhaust, my poly tranny mount, or possibly even my KYB AGX shocks being set at nearly max stiffness. I'm really not sure.

I've been thinking that sway bars might help this problem....

Hmmm... well i know round here you could say without a shadow of a doubt that it was the roads... esp. the highways, they're rougher than an alligator thats been living the ghetto all its life and now finally has a chance to stick it to the man as a janitor in a multi-billion dollar company.

Try driving on smoother roads ;)

[EDIT]Homedog i'm starting to get worried about you... you've been posting a lot of these: "when i go over a 100 this happens" and "why can't i go faster than 118mph?" and "when i brake the sound barrier i hear this loud 'BANG' sound, what is that?" type posts. Slow down there speedy... nobodys in a rush.

Going over 110 MPH might be bad for your life but it's great for your motor. It breaks loose the sludge.

Re: Car Shake at high speeds?

Yeah, I agree with slow6. Who cares about top speed, I want to know what a car runs in the 1/4 :D

Nobody brags about their top speed unless it is a 200+ mph supercar. Top speed and 0-60 times are actually quite irrelevent if you ask me, they are just something that magazines like to boast and car companies use to advertise and sell cars. Just my opinion though. :)

Re: Car Shake at high speeds?

Could be tire balance or orther issues or even a driveshaft, but if you have crappy tires on there thats probally your problem.

Ya, who cares about top speed all that matters is i get to the speed I want fast. I know my t/a can go 160 but I never will do that.

Also check the torque on all drivetrain bolts including the wheel lug nuts to make sure everything is tight. Little vibrations can crop up fast at speed. If its only at 100 and not at another lower speed @ same RPM its either past the transmission or in the wheels.

Okay first off it your going to be stupid enough to do 100 plus atleast be smart enought to check your tires and see what they are rated for..
