  • A few tire and rim questions!

    Hey All,
I am looking at some new C6 rims and I know that I want to go with 17 inch rims but there are a few questions I still have:

#1) Would you suggest 8.5 or 9.5 for the width?
#2) I am looking at Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires to wrap them in, anyone have these or know anything about their performance? Everyone on the website seems to like them, but I want to check with people who may or may not be paid by goodyear :)
#3) And finally, what are some of the cheaper places to get tire/wheels?

    Thanks for everything!

For cheap place to get tires, I'd recommend Tirerack.com

Sorry I can't give you any advice on your other questions.

Re: A few tire and rim questions!

i got some C5's off ebay w/ sumitomo tires for $300

I like mine, there 17x8.5 fronts and 18x9.5 rears, and I noticed a big improvement with traction with the 9.5 rears

      i'd say get 9.5's

#1) so if I put 9.5s on the rear, would I still be able to do a burnout by powerbraking, or is the tire to wide at that point?
#2) If I put 9.5s all the way around am I going to have to do anything special to the alignment to make them fit right?
#3) Can I put 8.5s on the front and 9.5s on the rear, would that work? and am I going to have to do anything special to make thoes work?

-I dont want the tires to stick out of the fender wells to much, will have 9.5s on it make that happen?

Sorry about all of the questions I just want to make sure that I make a wise decision about all of this.

You should still be able to do a burn out. If I can, you can (of course, i still have an open differential....)

If the offset is wrong then it'll stick out. But i don't know much about any of that. I just went to centerline.com and they made the offset for the rear diff than the offset for the front so they'd fit properly in the fenderwell.

Re: A few tire and rim questions!

with the C5's I still burnout but I can get up and go a lot better, and they fit fine and dont stick out

nothing was needed for the rims in my case, when I installed them with the axle jacked up, the tires rubbed against in the rear but once there on I have no rubbing (so in theory if I got the car airbourne they would rub but under no driving instances have they rubbed bumps, etc...)

                  1. Yes
                  2. No
                  3. Yes you can put 8.5 front and 9.5 rear with no probelms but I suggest running the same size tires/wheels so you can rotate them. Go with 9.5 all around and 275/40 and your money.
