  • Bolt sizes on calipers?

Anyone know offhand the bolt sizes for the calipers on the front of a 1997 Camaro? I have to take my front calipers off tomarrow and install new rotors and change out the pads. Can't wait to get new rotors on, been using stock rotors and they're finally warped pretty bad :(

Everything is either 10mm, 13mm, 15mm, or 18mm. Since your taking off the caliper mounting bracket, you'll prolly need either a 15 or 18, I can't remember which, but just pick up a whole metric socket set ranging from 6mm-21mm and you can take any bolt off your car. Lol.

But to answer your question, I'm pretty sure it's either 15 or 18mm. It's been a few months since I had the bracket off of mine.

Good luck took me about 3-3.5 hours to get the rear disk brakes off a rear end. Get some kind of greaser that can loosen them up. That was my method sprayed them and got em' wet let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Then I'd put the ratchet on it and tap it with a rubber mallet a few times, re-soak...wait. Then I worked on actually getting them off.

It was weird, my calipers were 3/8th hex type bolts for some reason. Was expecting a socket type 10mm, but it was a hex/star type, very weird.

Finally got my caliper and rotor off on drivers side front... only to find out why my rotors were warped in the first place... damn caliper piston siezed up on that side, and pretty much destroyed the outter pad, the inner was at 50% like it was used much. Weird stuff. So I didn't even bother with passenger side front, I just ordered 2 new bendix calipers to replace both front ones at the same time. Woof.... This is adding up to fast ;) I did take some pictures though.

Yeah the front brakes are a little shot. Hopefully fixed up by the end of tomarrow though.

                Geeeez, lotsa dust there!!!!
Sorry for misleading you on the bolts there. What year is the car? I can't remember ever seeing that style bolt on the F-Body brakes. I know dad's truck has an Allan wrench'd style bolt head. Oh well, guess I was wrong, those are a single piston caliper right? That's prolly a 93-97 Camaro thing then. Sorry...
