  • Installing Rear Rotors – 97 Camaro RS

Ok, I am half way though installing new rotors and pads.
I am using the instructions from this thread:
    http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread...ht=rear+%24400
    And this image for ref:

I am currently trying to let part 4 in the pic out so it will fit over the new rotor (as old one was worn considerably).

On the top bolt (34 / 2) I loosened 34 thinking that is what I needed to do, and sure enough, it did work just fine. The instructions said to loosen bolt 2 and that is what I tried to do on the bottom after seeing the problem with bolt 34 on the bottom. Because on that side, it is covered with the emergency break spring (that I NOT feel like messing with).

Ok, problem is, that bolt (2) will NOT budge... I tried tightening the top 34 back up, and sure enough, I can’t turn that sides #2 when it’s tight... So, what do I do? Do I need to take the parking break spring off, or get a hammer? ^_^

Maybe some sort of large clamp over the whole rig to hold it in place while slip it over the rotor? I would have to move it almost 1/4 inch.

Ok, tried pulling on the thing, no go, can't put enough pressure on it.

The more I look at this, the more I am worried. From the looks of it, all of my parts are correct (if not better fitting than the originals), but from the looks of it, there will always be pressure from the outside pad on rotor. It that right? Seems odd to me, but I’m no mechanic. :)

From what I remember, bolt #34 screws into Bolt #2 >which holds the caliper to the braket. Bolt #2 is just a slide pin that the caliper rides on. Once you remove Bolts #34, the caliper can be lifted up and then you have to remove the two larger bolts (which I don't see in the pic) that hold the whole bracket onto the backing plate, and then the whole unit can be lifted off.

I could be wrong though because it's been a while since I've removed my rear calipers.
