  • question about brake setup on new rearend?

i just bought a 3.42 posi rear out of an 01 trans am, it is equipped with disc brakes, the question i have is the existing drum brake rear in my car only has the one rubber hose that jumps the gap between the body and the rear, the new rear has two hoses that send pressure to an individual caliper, how can i convert the setup on my car to match the new rear, i dont want to rig it cause it is the brakes we are talking about, is it a matter of a Y block at the end of the steel line on the car or is there something else, thanx for the help!!!

You sure its not one of the rears with traction control or something. I got a rear out of 98 and its setup for the discs was the same as with my drum brakes. Individual lines from the brakes come to a T-junction where it then goes to the rest of the cars braking system.

I'm almost positive that the two hoses are a line in and return hose. You will be able to either eliminate one of the hoses or just connect a Y-fitting to your current hose and have it connect up to both of the hoses.

You have a traction control rear. Not good. Your ABS is different.
