Why do people remove the front swaybar for drag racing, is it because of the weight?

Wouldn't that only save you 15 - 20lbs at best?? Couldn't a lot of people do that by going on a diet?

takes a LITTLE weight off the front, but not much. the real reason for doing it is its sopossed to help weight transfer. ( makes the rear plant more )

yea my friend will run 2-3 thenths faster on his LT1 car by unhooking the swaybar, not so much the weight but the weight transfer upon launch

                        Re: Front swaybar

ive heard it helps alot, ive taken mine off before and you can notice the front end come up faster.
it weighs like 20-30 lbs and it mainly helps the car react on the launch and have the weight transfer to the rear of the car. if your going to the track, pull between runs and see what you think
