  • Brake issues

I have a 97 v6 camaro, almost completely stock except new exhaust, and my brakes have always been a little weak. Recently my brakes have been really bad when it rains and I would have to pump the brake pedal a few times before they would grab and I could stop. Thats not the issue though, last night I drove my car and it was just like normal then got back in it and left and the first time I hit the brake pedal everything locked up after barely pressing the pedal, and it kept doing that. I just took it to a brake place and they said it wasnt the brakes, does anyone else know what that would be? I checked the fluid and its fine. Also anyone know how much it would cost? Basically how I have to stop now is just downshifting because if I press the brakes at all they lock up completely.

    could be:
Faulty Master Cylinder, air in the lines, faulty abs unit, bad sensor(s), etc.
    Any trouble codes?

hmmmm....you definatly have something wrong. I'm too tired so I'll give you some useful advice, go to some other brake shop or a dealership.

        Re: Brake issues

I had this problem and it ends up I had a leaking brake line. I would be driving and press the brakes and they would all lock up and the car's ABS would be going crazy. Check your brake lines, bleed screws, pistons, etc.
