  • wheels dont fit

tried to put some 16x8s off a 2000 Z-28 onto a 96 with drum brake rear and they didnt fit.
Seems as tho the center hole in the newer wheels is a bit smaller and so it wont fit over the axle flange.
    The front fit just fine.
Whats so odd is this is the same style wheel just a chromed version of it.

    Re: wheels dont fit

The 2000 cars had snowflakes whereas the 96 had salad shooters. What wheels do you have?
As for why they don't fit, I don't exactly understand what your saying, the wheel would have to be significantly smaller to not fit over the drum..

      axle flange not the drum
Maybe they were 1999s but both are same style
5 spokes, just that the Z-28 wheels are chromed.

97+, they had smaller hubs in the rear. You can sand them down lightly and they will fit.

This is directly from TA Creations website:

5-spoke silver and Chrome wheel interference problems on 93-96 F-bodies : 5-spoke silver and chrome wheels will not fit on rear of 93-96 Camaros due to a lack of clearance between the wheel hub and the rear axle shaft. Factory 93-96 axle shafts have a 70.75 mm diameter hub face, while the 97-02 5-spoke silver and chrome wheels have a 70.5 mm diameter hub opening. Minor grinding/machining is mandatory for installing those wheels on 93-96 models.

thanks I will forward that to the new owner of wheels.
Ive never had a drum brake car so Im guessing I would never have that issue.
They fit my 97 Y 87 just fine and went to put them on the 96 with no luck.
this explains it to a "T".
