No Cross Member?

I just installed a Magnaflow and cutout on my 99 3.8. The crossmember behinde the Cat does not fit now because of the exhaust clamp. What will happen if I do not have the cross member?

pretty sure you are talking about the tranny brace. i think you need it. cant you grind the clamp a bit ? also try to get us a pic

It is either the tranny brace or tunnel brace, tranny brace you need , tunnel not really.

Probably not because it's not connected to the subframe. I left mine off for a few months after I installed my new exhaust, and I didn't feel any type of difference when driving. I re-installed it because I was tired of looking at it sitting on the shelf...

I believe it's there for safety reasons. Maybe to support the driveshaft if it breaks, if exhaust comes loose, or just protects them both from large bumps in the road (like speedbumps).

they are there for safety reason, if stock doesnt fit you can get tubular

Same thing happened with me and my Magnaflow system... didn't fit with that stupid thing there... i've had it off for 3 months and everythings all good...

I took my factory brace off and installed one w/the driveshaft loop from BMR, and since then....Ive noticed that it must hang down just a bit, because Ive already bottomed out with it once or twice. Luckily I havent torn it off or bent it, just hit stuff with it...lol.
