  • Install Day!!

Bilsteins, tie rod ends, new SLP V8 Springs, Ball Joints, & control arm bushings go in today. Just waiting for 9am to fire-up the air compressor

A front end alignment is scheduled for tomorrow morning by a shop that is only 5 blocks from me, and highly reputable.

Hopefully, all of this eliminates the bump steer I've been experiencing!

Have fun with the lower ball joint and control arm bushings. Good luck, hope all goes well. Are you pressing the bushings out or burning them out?

I used a press and they actually came out somewhat easy. New ones wen in just as easily because I greased the living hell out of everything I installed today.

The only problem I had was the top bolt holding the shock to the perch. The shocks and upper control arms came out with ease, but the top bolt holding the shock on was rusted amazingly bad! I had to cut it off with a dremel, and that process alone took me an extra 2 hours.

Front end is done. I'm installing the rear bilsteins tomorrow morning before the alignment, and that should just about do it. It'll be ready to sell. :(

Good job. when I did mine I had to cut the nut off the top on the passenger side. I think it always takes 2 hours when something comes up.lol

              Buying an SS. ~Really~ want a 35th anniversary, but I'll take any one thats a 2000+ & with less than 30k miles....M6 & t-tops are a must!

I wanted to wait for the new Camaro, but the first year it all heartache! Between the trial year (bugs have to be worked out), and the price markups from the dealers, I'll just buy an SS now and get the new Camaro after a few years.

Ah I see, then congrats on the upcoming upgrade! You have a buyer already for your car I take it? Surely you didn't do all this work just to trade it in.

                    Re: Install Day!!

He's probably trying to get his current one in tip top shape, with all the latest appearance and drive ability modifications that way he can make the most for his money when selling it. It seems like a wise investment to me, unless it backfires and he doesn't make his money back.

Congrats on the upgrade to the SS, I wish I could find one around here that someone would come off of. Nobody will sell around here.........bunch of stingy brats. :p

Well, my wife's niece is probably going to buy it, so I want to get it into tip-top shape beforehand. Even if she doesn't buy it, I know there will be nothing wrong with it when I'm selling it.

If the SS doesn't come with any of the parts I've already installed, I'll just buy new parts for it and install them again. I have some money to spend anyhow. :) Aflac paid me pretty well for the time I missed from work with the kidney stone.

I knew I was going to have to cut it off before hand the hardest part for me was getting it through my thick skull that the dremmel was the only way to do it, fyi the shock rod is tough as hell and a hacksaw is a waste of time :(

man somebody is going to get a car that at least should handle quite well!

I took it for a ride after the alighnment, and WOW! What a difference! The front doesn't seem to be much higher than the stock springs, but I cannot believe that it would feel so much better on the road. Don't know why I've waited so long to install those parts :spank:
