I was just reading in the Mod Ency about the different subframe connectors and it was mentioned that 'Kenny Brown Double Diamond' was the best. I looked at pictures of different brandss that I could find and KBDD looks like it anchors in more places than other brands, but I have to admit they look like something horrible. Do they really look as bad as the pictures?
I am considering other brands because of this. I know it says to use weld ins, who has an experience for me to hear? Thanks.
The double diamonds are probably the best on the market, but you'll benefit from just about any brand of SFC's out there. Any SFC is an improvement over nothing.
The KBDD's not only tie up every aspect of your subframe, then they tie both sides together making your car feel like a tank. This could be a good thing, but can also hurt if you plan on alot of work under the car. They can get in the way with transmission work, exhaust work, etc. but the stability they provide should outshadow that.
Just curious, what do you mean when you say feel like a tank?
I was looking into the SLP sub frame connectors, what kind of difference do you notice after installing these?

"Tank" meaning completely solid.
Are the SLP SFC's K connectors? Or are the just two seperate bars that connect each side?

I was always curious about that, is work underneath the car still possible although the SFCs are in place? Or if I'm still looking to do work underneath, should I get a bolt on, then when I'm finished have it welded in place?
The only thing is the double diamonds don't look like they were professionally made. It looks like something my brother would weld in shop class. That kind of irritates me. I know I wouldnt be looking at them all the time, but I would be shy whenever some mechanic jacked the car up. I am just wondering if they are so much better than the Hotchkis set to spend more money and look worse.
The more I read into this post, the more I'd like to tryout the "K" design connectors. I've only have the two bars installed once before, but the K connectors seem make more sense to me. I think I'll start shopping around for a set...
If everone swears by the KBDD, I will probably go with the set even though I dont like the looks. I live in an area where there are allot of bad roads an the ttop squeak and rattle drives me nutz. I saw the front tower support connector for the Firebirds, does anyone make the rear ones? I think it would help as well.
I've got a set of J&M Subframe Tubular Connectors from HotPart. http://www.hotpart.com/index.php?&ke...d=66&catcount=
They also have a trainglular style like the double diamonds. Good quality stuff if you ask me. When I got mine, they were 100 shipped.
Anyways, about the Tower Brace, the rear doesn't really have "towers" per say. It's just a couple holes back in the hatch that the shocks bolt up to. They're "connected" by the rest the shell of the car back there. The fronts need it because there is no connection between the two towers.
Edit: I might have confused some people by my post.

There is no need for a "Strut Tower Brace" since our cars don't have struts. However, a "Shock Tower Brace" might be benefical.

Say it how you want man. I didn't feel like typing the 47 different variations for STB. I figured I would go with the most commonly used version that I see on these boards. So to correct myself for the anal: Shock/Strut Tower Brace/Bar. Want me to go back and change it in the original post? Lol
