So I want to get a strut tower brace to finish off my setup, but I have heard that for the 3.4 cars the strut tower brace is different...is this true?

If so where can I find one. If not, can I get one off of an LS1/LT1 V8 car or do I have to get one specifically for a V6 car?

Thank you for all of your help.

You cant use one off a v8 car cuz the mounts are different. I know this for sure cuz when I ordered mine I got sent one for a LS1 instead of my car and it didnt fit at all. Check Thunderracing.com for one. They are about 120 bucks or so.

Go with hotchkis. I just sold my J&M strut tower brace off my 3.4, it looks just like the UMI one. I sold it because it didnt get enough clearance over the intake manifold. Plus a sensor in A/C line happens to be in the way... You will pay out the *** for a hotchkis, but I think its worth it...

I think you might have that confused. I remember when I got mine from Hotchkis that they have one that fits the LT1 and then another that fits the LS1 & V6.

Sorry, but I don't know. It sounds like you might. I've never heard about the J&M or the UMI STBs before this post. I'd say try it out, and send it back if it doesn't fit, or put it on ebay.

Don't bother with the Shock Tower Brace it doesn't really help with anything. If you want to stiffen the car up subframe connectors are a much better option. If you really want I can add more info on the subject later but I don't have the time right now.

You know that's the total opposite of what I've heard. I did alot of suspension mods at the same time, but from people who have just done the STB, the before and after effect was completely obvious in cornering.

What kind of STB did you get?

ill i have heard from people that install strut tower braces on therre cars, even with stock suspension. Its like night and day handling and less body roll.

                            Re: strut tower brace

I tell you what you talk to sam strano about it and see what the man has to say about it. And all STB's do the same thing, the 3 and 4pt ones don't help any more or less than the 2pt. The reason they don't help is we already have pleanty of support from the cowl and firewall that a STB is just not needed. Anyone who says they felt a difference is either lieing or fooled themselves into beleiving it changed something. Honestly don't wast your money. If you want I can totally blow you mind and tell you that the PHB does more than just center the rear and that even SFC's aren't needed on our cars for handling but rather just hide the symptoms of a poorly designed suspension. If you want the car to handle the best possible for the least amount of money buy the right parts rather than waste it on parts that only mask problems. I suggest you look into a quality shock and spring combo followed buy a 32 or 35mm hollow front bar and a 19mm rear bar (if you get a better understanding on how to dial the car in a 21mm solid or 22mm hollow rear bar can be better though). Trust me I live for setting up suspensions.

                              Re: strut tower brace

When I put mine on, I only noticed a slight stiffening of the front end in corners and turns. The difference wasn't night and day, but it felt a little bit more firm.

Also, I have a convertible, so the effects were probably a little bit more pronounced. If you have a hardtop ot t-top, the effect would probably be less.

I guess what I'm trying to say is don't expect too much with just a STB.
Yes, I know \"Artic\" should be spelled \"Arctic\". Can any of the mods change this?
