A couple days ago while I was on the highway, the ABS INOP turned on. When I turned the car off and turned it on again, the light turned off like normal. I have been paying attention to the light, and it appears it turns on when I reach a speed of at least 55 mph. Is this a serious problem, what can I do to fix it on my 95 3.5 auto.?

Re: Abs Inop
I had this problem and figured out what speed and what not. As the problem gets worse, and it will, it will change moments that it happens. Mine is at the point now that if I give ant more than 50% throttle it will turn on. The only problem that I have noticed is the fact that the ABS is Inop just like light says. If you hit your brakes hard they will lock up.Originally posted by kalaI'll have buttsecks with Richard Simmons!

Re: Abs Inop
i had that problem in my 96 turned out to be a brake sensor, i think thats what it was called i think it was like around 300 buck but i can't remember, but it senses when the caris braking hard and when to hit abs so you won't skid and crash, you go with out it, but its like not have abs working properly.JpX

Re: Abs Inop
i had the problem and my tires would lock up. we have a 2 stage abs system . on sensor in each front wheel and one atop the differential. take the 10 mm nut off holding the rear sensor to the diff and clean it. that fixed myh problem bc the abs sensor has to sense the gaps in the excitor ring and has tgo be a certain distance, and dirt and worn gear material will fill the excitor ring gaps and close the gap between the sensor and the ring.all in all remove bolt, clean sensor, replace bolt. let me know how it goescant wait till my lt1 and nitrous.

Re: Abs Inop
Definitely check the rear sensor and clean it and see if that fixes it. If your back brakes are locking up when the light comes on, then it's not the sensor being dirty, there is a problem with your brakes.
Either that, or mine is just broken, because my light used to come on all the time when the sensor was dirty and my brakes never locked up on me or even applied a small amount of pressure during the period of the INOP light being on.
