  • BRAKES? HeLP

Ok, me and my buddy just put on brand new rotors, and ceramic pads on the rear brakes. Now it is rubbing and grinnd more then before!!! I didnt really do any adjusting on the brakes, but i kno he didnt adjust any little screw, or something everyone says is in there idk. But are we missing something, everythings on right, but it rubs like a mofo, will someone send a site or explain the correct way to doing brakes, or what we could have missed. thanks

take the pins out and greese them up. (pins-you know where the bolts go into.) just pull it and the bolt and rubber boot will come free. get a jar of bearing greese and just drunk it in there. stop at the boot. then stick it back in the caliper. make sure that rubber boot is connected back up.

There is a small hex screw on the rear calipers that needs to be adjusted when new thicker pads are installed. I know a lot of people say the brakes self adjust, but trust me the rears do not. I spent hours trying to turn that stupid little screw because with new pads I couldn't even get the calipers back over the rotors. It almost came down to buying new calipers, but the screw finally broke loose.

I was sitting there at work and I read the original post and then I read yours about greasing up the bolt and putting it in properly and I found myself a little uncomfortable sitting in the office all of a sudden.

                    NO, DONT USE THIS STUFF!!

You should use a proper silicon based extreme high temperature grease! If you use just bearing grease, or common petroleum, soap stone, or lithium based greases, the high temps will cause them to solidify and sieze up the pins, which will prevent the calipers from floating.
