  • Rear sway bar

I just recently noticed the rear sway bar is broken. The bolts holding the two ends on are completly gone so it pretty much just dangles there.

Is it safe to drive the car like that? I only drive roughly 2 miles to work on back roads 95% of the time.

I know it cheaps to fix but is it safe to drive up until the weekend without doing any major damage? I pretty much only have time to fix it on the weekend

Its not completely safe to drive the car without a rear sway bar especially if you are driving in wet weather or on curvey roads. If you are going to be on curves dont hit them very fast at all or your rear will slide out form you. Just baby it until you get it fixed man. Be careful!

      Re: Rear sway bar

The ends of the sway bar hanging down can hit the road so I would fix it ASAP. also the bolts on the ends have bushings that go over them and as a whole are refered to as endlinks so that is what you need to look for when getting the parts.

Yea, I also agree with t-punk here. If you have the cash get polyurathane bushing and endlinks for your sway bar. You can get them form your local Autozone. If not then just get regular endlinks to fix the problem.

It doesnt hang down low enough to hit the road. You cant even notice it at all just by looking at the car. I just noticed because i was parked weird on my driveway

You will probably be fine then but keep an eye on it and try to fix it asap. If you have tomorrow off do it then if not deffinately do it this weekend. You don't want to put this off, not that it seems like you are or would. Good luck and if you have any issues post up and we will help you though it, it's not to hard though.

Yea jsut hope you dont have to go through what I did. My endlink broke on one side, and I went to go replace it, and the bracket rusted all to pieces, so I had to buy a new bracket and have it welded on there. It's not any fun sitting there trying to pull the old broken endlink out of a rusted bracket :(

For future reference to anyone replacing stock endlinks: It's almost ALWAYS easier to just take a hacksaw to them.

That's funny, I thought air tools aways made this easier :p
