  • Chevy dealer did not fixed!!!

    Car: Camaro 3.8 99
    Problem:
The car has been pulling to right side in any speed some time ago. Sometimes there's a squeaking noise when I turn the steering wheel at very low speeds. When I brake, sometimes the car pulls to one side or the other. Generally, I feel the car unstable. There's some steering fluid on the cylinder, around the cap. I need to clean it every time I open the hood. Besides, when I replaced new wheels and tires (275/40ZR-17) the steering wheel started having a minor vibration while cruising, but major when raising or dicreasing speed.
    What I did:
With my friend's help, he's a mechanic, we replaced pads, t-rod ends, resurfaced front rotors and alignment. Before this, alignment was made without resolving the problem. After this, problem wasn't solve.
    About the tires:
These are the second set Discount Tire has replaced, rebalanced twice, rotation twice and vibration is still there.
    Chevy Diagnosis:
They checked everything (that's what they said): Brakes and suspension. Tires were rebalanced twice. So they said aligment was needed. I ask them: If the alignment doesn't solve the problem, Are you going to charge me? They said NO, since they were very sure that was the problem. Guess what? NOTHING. I asked them, Why there's fluid around the cap, in the steering cylinder. They said THAT WAS NORMAL. Is it normal I need to clean that mess everytime I open the hood. They said YES. And their final word: I don't know why the car is still pullling to the right side, since you have a very nice car. What a stupid diagnostic. I NEED YOU HELP GUYS.

Replace the power steering fluid, preferably with something GOOD like:

Valvoline “SynPower” Synthetic Power Steering Fluid

When I first read this three things came into mind... warped rotor, tie rod or CV joint. Other then that I'd say do like above and change the fluid.

Re: Chevy dealer did not fixed!!!

Just continuing this thread, is there a good way to change the power steering fluid without getting too much air into the system? I've got a high mileage V6 so it's probably time I considered that option, too.

So find a piece of hose the right diameter and put it into a bottle for the crap fluid and continue to pour while it's syphoning?

I said that was first to come to mind when hearing of those problems. I should have clarified it more but I wasn't being specific with his car. When a car usually pulls to one side then these are the things I usually look for first... and of course I wouldn't be looking for it on a camaro but I did replace them on my GF's car a month ago.

Yes, you are an idiot. Instead of spending 5 seconds to put in a YES or NO, you spent several minutes to find enough information to be a turd. Congratulations on taking the low road. It's people like you that scare off newbs who are here to learn something about their cars.

I have no doubt you'll continue to be you. Good luck with that. I'll say no more. You've proven what you are.

if it can be found with a simple search, why not search instead of waste another thread asking the same things that have been covered already??? I am a bit confused by you going off on him as he also posted a link to the exact directions on what was asked.

People like you are the ones that piss off the old timers here and then the old timers leave forums all together and then you have nobody to go to for knowledge or help later on

Because the question I asked went hand and hand with what was being discussed on this thread. If people are old timers on here, they probably aren't reading threads in here anyway. They are probably more likely to HELP someone than berate them. Your flawed logic doesn't hold water. Nice try, though.

As I've said, I'll leave this alone now. You aren't going to convince me it's not better to just answer a simple question and move on than trash-talk because someone is either trying to learn or helping to keep a thread active. I run a message board so I know how these things are supposed to work.
