    Re: Performance springs

I have kyb adj. on the front , just because I got a good deal on them for $110, but I have Blisteins HD's on the rear. The KYB adj. have been good to me so far, I have adusted my settings now and then, but for every day person driving and not going to race and autocrosss etc., I would recommend Blistens.

      Re: Performance springs

I've driven on a couple v8 cars with them and didn't feel the rebound damping was quite there. Bilstein HD's aren't perfect either but I think they are a bit better at this. For your normal driver though and especially with stock springs either one would be fine. A few others who are nuts when it comes to handling will agree with me on the KYB's but a lot of guys on here like them and some of them even use them for auto-x. I've heared the warranty is pretty nice on them though.

I see, I was thinking the KYB adjustables would be better in my situation beacuse u can adjust for when your on the road and when you go on the track and if u ever decide to auto X. After reading the description of the HD's im not to crazy about them, Id be more inclined to go with the Blistein sport shocks but I cant seem to find them for our car. Just because i dont want to lower the car doesnt mean that I dont want the performance aspect of the shocks, and the fact that the HD's are kind of a multi purpose shock with no adjustablity kind of deters me...maybe Im wrong

          Re: Performance springs

You could always go for broke and get the Koni's. A bit overkill for stock springs but if you ever decide to go for the GC spring kit you would have one hell of a hot setup. The KYB debate has been argued too many times and I don't want to start another fight. Try searching the site and you will find some good info on them. If you want to really get into suspension www.frrax.com is a great site for our cars.

yea koni's would be nice but a little overkill for what I need and definetly expensive. And yea i've seen those posts about KYB vs. Blisteins and im 95% decided on KYB...i think it will be better for the winter time to cause I can adjust to the harsher conditions. Thanks for the help

lol...now that I figured out prolly which shocks Im going to get...back to my original question...is there a such thing as non lowering performance springs available for our cars? Im thinking no?:(

              Re: Performance springs

The only spring thats stock height and is built more towards racing is the 1LE, but it will sit higher in the front for you since you have a v6. Lowering your car 1" will not be bad since you dont have longtubes(which is what most people worry about).

I use strano performance racing springs, close to 1" drop and 550 front spring rate and i think 160 rear (built for handling.

The thing is if you change your spring you have to change your shock, if you want my honest opinion they kyb are not up to par to what you could get. Re-valved Bilistens or Koni SA.

Sure they cost more money, but if your going to do it why not do it right?

Very tru, id rather do it right the first time.

Do you drive in the winter with your car? cause thats what im concerned mainly about...I dont have the money for a winter beater and I hate the buss...so I have to drive this in winter and thats where clearance becomes and issue.
