New rear calipers not all there?

So I'm doing a rearend swap to include swapping from drum to disc. I ordered new rear calipers from autozone and they seem incomplete to me. I got a left and right but they don't mirror each other. Is that normal? The rearend I bought had one caliper with it so I can refer to a old one and the new ones are diffrent. The first thing is neither "new" caliper has a 2nd piece to them, where the pads mount inside I beleive. Also one has a inch thick and 3 inch wide circle that goes where the e-brake cable mounts into and the other doesn't. Thats the part that doesn't mirror each other. WTF is up with that? The old caliper that came with rear end has circle thing so I need it. Was I suppose to order another pice for the rear caliper where pads mount?

Everytime I start to progress with something on this project something else happens. This is getting old....

I bought a complete disc setup used and it all bolted right in. Maybe you can post pics of what you have, and I'll see if I can help.

You know where the pads mount to and that section swings down off a "pin" on one side and a bolt through other side. I dont have that. I don't know if I need to order another piece or what. I'll post pics though.

Sounds like you have the mounting bracket but no caliper?

I don't think they gave you the whole thing sounds like your missing half. Where did you get them from?

I got them from Autozone.

I got calipers for the rearend that it came out of.


Here is the two new calipers left and right respectively. See round thing the left has and right doesn't. Man!! I just noticed the right one is missing a mounting pin also.



here is the old caliper that was on rearend when I bought it. Notice piece flipped out that looks like a backwards "C". I don't have that on the new ones.

That backwards C is the caliper mounting bracket. Those are probobly sold seperatly and that wahy you didn't get them with the caliper. I would take them back and see about it, plus your missing that mounting pin and a "round thing".

Thats what I was thinking but I didn't want to go back and look like an idiot. Guess thats something else to do.

Went to autozone last night and they do not sell the caliper bracket. I went to order a loaded pair of calipers instead but there distibutor is out so I am S.O.L with getting brake calipers through them. I'm gonna try to get them through advance now. I did get my SS brake lines yesterday so I am now waiting on shocks from Bilstein and I can go ahead with install.

This is some B.S.! Advance auto can get me drivers side but not passenger side. What type of **** is that? Does anyone have part number so I can look it up on gmpartsdirect? I checked yesterday but there catalog was down.

I am doing a similar swap picked up a 2001 firebird rear end had brakes and everything. Assuming they are the same for you're axle. I do not need the braces for the brakes. If you pay the $5-10 in sihpping I will send one of them to you. I'm waitin for my SS brake lines.. hopeing to get this done in next few weeks when I get a weekend off of work.
