  • have you installed earls stainless steel lines? Mine leak...

SO who has swapped out there rubber lines for SS braided lines? If you've followed my story so far, I took my car to shop to have them fix rear brake line leak and go ahead and install front braided lines and the center braided line. Well the shop just called and said the kit looks like its missing parts. The kit came with 5 lines, 8 crush washers and nuts for the lines to mount to brackets. Is there anything else or adapter that should have came with them but didn't? The shop said its not flaired inside the SS line and thats why its not leaking. A guy at work and I looked through Jegs magazine and found this:

    http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...1291&x=19&y=11

I think this will work, but I was curious if anyone else has had this issue or needed these.

So I called Jegs and they said the adapter would not work. Turns out the problem is looking to be that the flare fitting I bought were not OEM style. New problem, I have no way of ordering OEM flare fittings. If ANYONE can help me out with this I would appreciate it. I'm so close to driving her I can taste it.

Who did you get the lines from? I would be asking them if it was a store you bought them from. Or email Earls, to make sure you have the right part # for your car and if they have any suggestions to make them fit.

The part number is right, the problem is the non-OEM flare fittings leaking. This is B.S. I called Jegs again and they don't sell flare fittings that will work. This so frusterating.

So I found this supplier for Earls in Wisconsin, http://my.coredcs.com/~wmeng/

I told the guy on the phone what my problem was with the fittings not matching up properly and he was super helpful. He informed me that depending where the car was built it has either metric flare fittings or standard. He told me to go home and find out which I had and let him know and he'd get me what I wanted. I decided to save time and hassle and bought both sizes and they were being shipped today by UPS ground. Should be here by Tuesday he said.

          I have 2 questions.

          1. I thought all our cars were built in Canada. Is this not true?

          2. If the Earls SS braided brake kit is for all 93-97 camaros and birds, how can there be a diffrence in metric or standard fittings?

So heres the deal. If you can get your old lines off and not tear up the fittings then they will screw right into SS lines and no leaks. I guess I screw the pooch on my flares. When I ordered the adapters though the guy included these push in pieces that changes the flare fitting to what I needed and they no longer leaked. The shop charged me $180.00 for 3 hours of labors. I drive the car home and brakes suck. Jacked car up and brakes are leaking at drivers side rear caliper. Looks like I gotta make a call and send car back up there. Ugh....
