alright... the title might sound REALLY weird.... but its true... i use my car for drifting... im using delco de carbon shocks for my car and stock springs... and somehow having trouble in terms of wheel and tire clearance.... if im using my stock wheels theyre fine... but when i put my summer wheels and go drifting when i do a hard turn my wheels do touch the wheel wells... i placed my stock and my summer rims side by side there was no difference in circumference.. the stock was 16" the summer rims are 19" but in total circumference with rubber theyre just the same... i think its the width of the tires... i got 8.5.. or maybe im wrong... HELP!

No ricers are people that put fart cans on an otherwise stock car, pile on stickers, a couple wings and say there cars fast. Real performance in an import car is not a ricer. The cars typically out there drifting are putting down some power and I'd bet would walk you :slap:

im using 19" wanli Performance tires s-1088 for drifting...

i was also wondering if i replace my current suspension set-up my car is gonna go lower... well that means my wheels will scrap my wheel wells... i was thinking of going for the same ride height but stiffer springs... so that when i drift i'll minimize body roll... so that ill minimize my tires touching the wheel wells too... what about those STB, roll cages does it really minimize body roll?

PS... I ONLY PUT Decals that are ACTUALLY IN MY CAR!!!! :naughty:

want to minimize your cars roll in the rear? get a 21 mm BMR rear sway bar FTW! my car has one and although it handles like a dream, the rear end will kick out whenever i want it to and its completely controlable. i like it. i also have a 32 mm front sway bar with the strut tower brace as well. Bilstein's are VERY good. i believe our lowering springs came from H&R. very stiff in the rear.

              perfect for drifting though. IMO

What's rubbing anyways? The front tires or the rear tires? If it's the rears, are you sure that your rims aren't rubbing the jounce bumpers when you're turning? I know my 17"x9.5"s (running a 275/40/17) were like 1/8" from the jounce bumpers. The rear suspension shouldn't move much at all, but if you've got some bushings worn, it might flex enough to rub them with the wheels.

If it's the front, meh, mine rub up front when I turn the wheel full lock anyways. It's just a plastic inner fender.

                    Re: fbody drifting....

its the front ones.... im on 19x8.5" but the circumference is the same with my stock... i think its the width and too much body roll i should invest on those bilsteins and those STB's.... looks like have to work harder...

the stuff on my car? nothin serious... still concentrating on handling... i think the next upgrade would be a big brake kit and suspension upgrades... man cars stuff are expensive... T_T
the stickers i have is Magnaflow... JBL... Veilside... Miller Oils*lol* RkSports... ADR... and Wanli .... and of course the place i work.. GM ^_^

                      Re: fbody drifting....

It's definitely the width, not the diameter. Your just rubbing the inner fender liners. They're plastic. I rub mine too with 275/40/17s. I've got the Bilstein HDs and Eibach Pro-Kit. They still rub sometimes. No harm done. Next time you have your wheels off the front, check for rub marks on the plastic where the tire would contact. You might be able to take sheet metal screws or something and screw them to the sheetmetal behind it..... but it should be find.

Are the summer tires getting better grip that causing the body to roll over more? Sounds like you need stiffer springs.

The drifting you see on movies is for ricers...being able to keep speed around a corner is not "ricer"
