  • H&R Springs + Bilstein shocks + Eibach swaybar

I know it's advised to use the same brand everything as they would work better together than different brands, but somehow I came to this combination as it was impossible to stay unibrand and it looks best suited for my project.

Could you share your oppinion on the following setup :

    Front and rear H&R lowering springs (1.4" F, 1.3" R)
    http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/s...=S&50729_Qty=1

Bilstein HD M1 shocks, both front & rear
    http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/s....M1&perfCode=P

    Eibach swaybar front & rear
    http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/s...3831.320_Qty=1

The car sits already on 19" wheels, 245/35/19 at the front and 275/30/19 at the back.

thats what im worried bout upgrading my suspension... with the stock ones my 19" rims are hitting the wheel wells... does yours do that to?

Horsepower is how fast you hit the Minivan... Torque is how far you take the Minivan with you... :wavey:

Not with lowering springs. Need the SLP or Strano re-valved shocks.

Yea the Bilstein shocks are not built to be used with lowering springs. I have the KYB AGX adjustables on my car that I ordered from tirerack and they are great. When you have them on the first setting it rides just a good as the stock set up was. Then you turn it all the way up to the eighth setting and it handels amazing. Thats with the eibach prokit though. Im sure the H&R's are just as good. You can pick any level between 1 and 8 for dampness on the struts. I was going to get the Eibach antiroll kit for my car as well but I have heard that 21mm rear sway bar is too much, so im still not sure what kind of sway bars to go with. I do like that the H&R springs lower your car 1.4 in. I wish the prokit lowered my car more a little more than it did.

Not at all. There's still plenty of room vertically both front & rear. The front wheels do touch the inside plastic wall of the well, when turned max left/right which is unpleasant and bad for the the tires. This is fixable by bending the plastic inside. Still needs to be done, my bird is in the garage this week for some other improvements plus this.

It could be with lowered suspension that the wheels hit the plastic outer frame. My rear wheels are way out to the side. It may be that I'll need to expand the fenders. But that may only make the car look even more agressive.

Here are some pics of my setup

that just means that you need smaller rims!!

as for this set up....what are your goals with this car. where are you trying to go? drag, street, auto x etc. that is the only true way to pick suspension.

Re: H&R Springs + Bilstein shocks + Eibach swaybar

I like the rims sticking out, it makes the car look a lot wider.

As for the goals, I guess a bit of everything. It's not may daily drive, only for weekends or for having fun. So far I have invested massively in the interior & audio, rims & tires etc. Engine is untouched, but this is also starting now, though it's a second priority. I feel I must first be absolutely proud of the way the car looks and then make sure it's a street monster.

I was looking at supercharging it to reach for 220-250 hp, but i came to the conclusion that would be the death of the engine and still this wont do any good for drag racing. So it's likely at a certain point in the coming months that I drop a V8 in there and possibly supercharge it. I'm guessing a supercharge V8 would reach for the high 400 to 500 hp easily.

But anyway, everything with it's time.

Re: H&R Springs + Bilstein shocks + Eibach swaybar

250 rwhp is nothing. i'm putting down 336 rwhp and 412 rwt. i'm running with a stock bottom end and tranny.

i think that rims that stick out further than the fenders should be left to cars that are for off roading. i know that in pa it's illegal.

Re: H&R Springs + Bilstein shocks + Eibach swaybar

                      Alright, good advise !

I've dropped the Bilstein HD shocks. Tirerack have the KYB AGX too but my order already went through. Damn. Next time.

p.s. I only have a limited opprotunities to order from the US, my step dad's american so he does this for me and ships to europe, but I don't want to bother him too often so may be after new year's.

Is it possible to put the lowered springs on standard shocks ? I guess the result wouldn't be that good, but it's already something. Now it's wobly wobly.

                        where do you live???

you can put lowering springs on stock shock and struts with no problem. and yes you can also put after market shock and struts with stock springs.

Cool. Im sure you will like the set up once you get it all together. If you are still getting the anti roll kit let me know how you like it. If Its not too much in the rear end Ill probably be ordering it. So post once you get the springs installed with some pics.
