Holly ****!!!
On my way to work this morning ****ing right rear tire exploded just as I got on the brakes for the off ramp!
Started sliding but I kept it under control, must have looked like I was "Drifting"
Held it at about a 30 deg... slide all the way to the bottom of the off ramp.
great example of when racing (I know you weren't) or driving fast can lead to disaster. I always argue that no matter how good of a driver you are... you never know when this will happen.

crap man... first of all, 85 is too fast anywhere!!! :spank:
did it ruin the wheel? i'm sure that was kind of unavoidable at 85mph. pics!!!
Technically speaking, 85 is pretty fast, but on the flipside, the tire probably would have 'sploded at a lower speed too, so I would say that speed wasn't really a factor here. Probably ought to slow down a bit though, speeding tickets are $$$$ :twak:
Good job on keeping the car under control! I know I probably would have needed a clean pair of pants!
I hydroplaned my 80 malibu on the interstate going straight at about 70 mph and having your car turn sideways down the interstate and then straighten it back out is too much. Ever since that happnened, I always think about what could happen when a tire blows. I'm not saying I don't drive fast, because I drive like a maniac... but I admit that its stupid and I shouldn't do it.

Glad you are ok. Atleast a front tire didn't blow and you were able to control the skid.
If he was going 65 or 70 and the tire blew he could have just as easily been screwed. We don't know what road he was on or the conditions. I don't think 85 is necissarily unsafe.

its not as safe as 75 :slap:
just as 75 isn't as safe as 50
Its not that 85 is too fast, its that you have a better chance of surviving or less damage at a slower speed.

That may be technically true, but what if it is one of those roads that no one drives the speed limit on? If you do 65 on Rt95 you are going to cause an accident everyone does between 75 and 85.
That example doesn't apply to what happened to the OP, but you can't drive expecting a tire to blow out. Sure check your tires tread, make sure they are properly inflated, and get the correct speed rating, but if you drive in fear of that happening you might as well get a bike.
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
