Nope, no problems that I've noticed at all. Since the new springs and shocks, I've installed some 17" wheels with some wider tires...so far so good. Im happy so far.
That's good news...considering I already ordered the springs and the rear shocks. Tirerack says the matching front shocks won't be available from Bilstein until 12/31/07 so it looks like I'll have to wait on those. I'm in no hurry. I just want to get the same stuff for my car that everyone else has had excellent success with. I like learning from the mistakes of others. It costs me less. :)
2000 Camaro V6<br />I\'ve done nothing to my car worth note. :)
Well I put on all my suspension parts myself (panhard bar, torque arm, subframe connectors, swaybars, etc etc, along with the rear shocks and springs)...the front shocks and springs I didnt have the time or patience to mess with so I took that to the tireshop to do. Once it was over with, it cost me right at $175 and about 3 hrs or so for them to do it. At first they didnt want to mess with it because it wasnt factory height springs. They told me that alot of ppl would come in, have their ride lowered, leave and rip a hole in something or eat up alot of tires....then come back and gripe to them about it. In the end, they agreed to do it considering that I also bought a set of tires too. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2489691/1

I don't mind doing the fronts myself. I love working on the car and I've used a spring compressor before. I had a modified Toyota Supra for many years and I did the shocks on it. The rears don't look that complicated at all. I just want to make sure the Bilsteins will work properly without having to modify them when they are used with the Eibach Pro springs.

IF you use the "SLP" Bilsteins which were spec'd by SLP for use with their Eibach lowering spring package.
How mant times do I need to explain this??
Apparently once more because you haven't explained WHY this is so important and others are telling me they used standard Bilsteins with no issues. The ones I ordered for the rear is the F4-BE5-2407-M1 model. Tirerack recommends these for use with the Eibach Pro springs. I'm asking why you think the modified ones are necessary.

BECAUSE they are RE-VALVED so the shock operates PROPERLY with the lower spring height.

I get that part. I don't get why others used the standard shocks with no problems and Tirerack recommends these shocks with those springs. Have you heard of people having problems with them otherwise? I don't mind calling them tomorrow and cancelling my order but I certainly don't want to have the shocks revalved. I'd rather just get some adjustable once.
Thanks for the input, by the way. I realize you are getting frustrated with me. I just want to make sure this is really an issue before I screw up my car.

That is the ETA they have given sense the summer as there re-designing the front shock, so if there not ready that day I wouldn't be surprised. My fronts have been on backorder for a long time now. I'm patient as the car is just sitting for now anyways.

Your suspension is a SYSTEM. People mix and match parts with no concept of what they are doing, or how the SYSTEM will respond. Yes, lots of people put standard Bilsteins on their lowered car with "no problems", but that does not make it correct. The suspension is not optimized.
Same reason I will NEVER recommend tubular LCA for a street car. Even if "lots" of people have them with "no problems." They're just not correct.

This is why I ask. I learn something new from you guys every day. Thanks for the info. I didn't catch the shipment in time so I'll have to return the Bilsteins and get the adjustables. At least this way I can get all 4 without having to wait.
One last question...how do the KYBs compare to the Bilsteins as far as ride quality? I'm looking for something that will feel good and take the rough ride out of my Camaro. My gf complains because it rides like a truck now.
Thanks again for the input. I don't plan to be a mechanic but I certainly want to have the best ride I can for the money.

I have had both the KYB adjustables and Bilsteins on my car with the Eiback pro kit lowering springs.
I went to blisteins because I snapped a KYB. No matter what setting I had the KYB set to it rode like crap. First ride in the Blisteins and I was in love all over again.
I wondered why so many places were recommending the Bilsteins to be matched with the Eibach Pro Springs set without modification so I asked around. I asked Brad at Summit Racing and here is his response:
"The Eibach springs are designed to work with stock length shocks. These should be fine."
Then I asked Kevin at AllShocks. He said:
"The 2000 Chevrolet Camaro has much more available shock travel than most other comparable cars, and as a result the Bilstein HD shocks will work with the Eibach Pro Kit springs. We do have these in stock, and they can be ordered online..."
Then it dawned on me, why not just ask Bilstein? They have a technical support site so I emailed them to see what the manufacturer thought about using their product with Eibach Pro Springs. Here's what Bilstein, themselves, had to say about it:
"Should be OK. Pro kits are designed to work with the stock dampers."
And they went further to let me know that using the Bilstein HDs with the Eibach Pro Springs would not void the warranty, either.
I've decided to take the manufacturer at their word and use their shocks with my springs. Thanks for all the help, gang.

TEASE, who is running 11.7 in the 1/4, is running QA1 shocks, thats the ones I want when mine go out. Little expensive though. I thought she was running KYB's but it was someone different.
QA1's are pretty much drag only shocks. They're not comfortable. I'd go with some Koni Adjustables, but then again I'm not under a money constraint.
