  • Squeaky brakes

I am not sure why my car is doing this, but it seems that my d/s brake squeaks while driving. Not constantly mind you, but with a pulsing sound that is related to how fast my tires are rotating. I know normally this would be due to brake pads being worn down. However, when I took my car in to be inspected I mentioned this noise to the mechanic who claims it is because "my rotors are too smooth." Is that even possible?

Another thing, when the brakes squeak, if I turn the wheels slightly to the left the squeaking dies. When I turn back to center it starts again.

The only other thing I could think is if the brake pad on the inside is worn more than the outside and is causing the squeak.

If I need new rotors so be it. I just don't want to pay for new rotors if thats not the issue.

I'd like to get this taken care of ASAP. Not only is the noise annoying, but it is kinda embarrassing.

So you think it could just be PoS rotors?

I dont see how rotors could cause squeeking. I say to follow Kristens advise and grease/rebuild your calipers. Sounds like to me one is starting to stick.

              Re: Squeaky brakes

here is what is happening. your pushing in your breaks which is making your breaks in-gage. when when your letting off your breaks, at least one is not dis-engaging. so the pistions are getting stuck and holding your break pad too close to your rotor, then when you hit your gas your rubbing your pads on the rotor. it could also be uneven. you should get it fixed asap. breaks arn't a part of your car you should just let slide for another week:rant:

I will take a look this weekend. Unfortunately, I don't have a garage and it is dark by the time I get home from work.
