  • 285/35/18's?

Hey, guys im a long time reader of the forum and decided it was finally time to register. One thing really spurred me to register and that was this sweet deal I got on a set of 18 x 10s Corvette wheels this week. (I'll let you guys take a wild guess at how much I paid for them.) Anyways the deal was so good I just could not pass them up. So good that I acutally had money to buy a set of 285's after I got the wheels. But anyway the real question is does anyone have 285/35/18's all round here on the forum, if so what problems if any will I be in store for. After doing my homework on other forums I keep getting the answer that I will encounter no problems, but after putting one of the rims on the back im still skeptical.

I look forward to chatting it up with you guys in the future, and Btw when I go back home in a week I'll let you guys see some pics of the rims.

What is the offset of the rims? 285s is pushing it up front and you will most likely have rubbing on tighter corners, but you should be okay.

BTW what gen vette wheels are we talking about?

Too much wheel for a stock V6 car in terms of size/weight and rubbing issues. The rear wheelwells will probably have to pounded out to get them to fit.

the rears should fit without a problem, you may have to pound in the inner fender but thats probably not going to be an issue, only if the car is lowered or something. i rub a little bit and i have 315/35/17, other than that no issues.
As for the front, ur gonna get rubbing whne you turn the wheels with 17's up front and 275s i rub when i turn (275/40/17 i think), but other than that its fine.
Put em on the car and take it for a drive

Well as for the Vette rims I wanna say late model C4, with the Zr-1 (Chome) styling. Im planning on putting them on in spring, as well as getting new suspension parts, im going with BMR springs. However I will put the tires on see how much space im working with and so on. I think I kinda made a mistake in buying them since I autoX too. But looking at the rules... I'll save that question for another day.

You guys will not believe this if I told you but, I've found another GREAT deal on Rims off a Corvette, same style but 17's with 275/40/17 tires(two bad ones), all for 175.

Since no one really guessed on how much I paid for the 18's I got them for 150. (I also need to do work on them) The question is should I get these too. I want to, but they'll most likely sit outside for the harsh winter. I need help, yet again.
*Edit* Oh yea I already bought the 285/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sports (Used at 7/32's) for the 18's. Man I'm gonna be flat broke if I keep finding these deals, cause I have to buy them. Guess I'll be eating grilled cheese's.

No problems for the rear tires.
I run 275/30/19 at the rear and it's all good.

Front will be a problem. Mine at the front at 245/35/19 and they rub when I turn the steering wheel to the max.

I have 10x19 with 275-30-19 and they dont rub at all. Well when i pull in/out of slanted driveways my back right wheel rubs a little bit but the other three wheels have never rubbed!
